LAWS, MRS. BARBARA ANN DURHAM - age 81, of 1623 Bluff Road, Harriman, TN,
formerly of 822 West Maple Street, Johnson City, died Sunday, December 6,
1998
in Harriman. She was a Washington County native and daughter of the late
Thomas N. and Ada Archer Durham. Mrs. Laws and her late husband, Ted
Laws, Sr.
operated Laws Food Market in Johnson City for several years. She served
many
years as an Inmate Counselor with The Tennessee Correction Department
serving
the Washington County Sheriff's Department and held religious services
for 45
years at The Washington County Jail. Mrs. Laws was a member of Central
Baptist
Church in Kingston and a former member of University Parkway Baptist
Church of
Johnson City. Preceded in death by her husband, Ted Laws, Sr. in 1992 and
by
two brothers and one sister. Survivors: two sons, Ted Laws, Jr. of
Harriman
and Leo Laws of Johnson City; one brother, Archie Durham of Bristol, TN;

grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1
great-great
grandson; several nieces and nephews. Graveside service for Mrs. Barbara
Ann
Durham Laws, age 81, of 1623 Bluff Road, Harriman, TN, formerly of 822
West
Maple Street, Johnson City, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 11:00
a.m.
Wednesday in Oak Hill Cemetery, Johnson City, Dr. Michael Oaks
officiating.
Those attending the graveside service are requested to meet in the
cemetery.
Pallbearers will be selected. The family will receive friends at the
funeral
home Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Please omit flowers. Memorials, in memory of
Mrs.
Laws, may be made to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 3695, Johnson City,
TN
37601. Woodall-Anderson Funeral Home, 108 W. Watauga Ave., Johnson City,
TN in
charge of arrangements.
