BROWN, MRS. PANSY JANET ASHLEY - age 79, of Burrville passed away October 23,
2000. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Patterson and Maggie Ashley.
She was a member of the Sunbright Order of the Eastern Star #303. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Roy Leva Brown. Surviving: daughter and son
in law, Sue and Joe Stewart of Knoxville; son and daughter in law, Roger and
Wilma Brown of Sunbright; five grandsons, Joseph Stewart of Temeruls, Calif.,
Roger Brown, Jr. of Sunbright, Rusty Brown of Wartburg, Ricky Brown of Mt.
Juliet, Tenn., and Robert Brown of Sunbright; five granddaughters, Jennie
England, Melody Morgan, Rene' Brown, Elise Brown, Adriana Brown all
Sunbright; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Bill Ashley of Burrville, Tenn.;
sister, Connie Burton of Newport, Tenn.; special niece, Jessie and Bill
Roberts of Allardt, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; special neighbor,
Terry Larue of Burrville, Tenn. The family will receive friends Wednesday
evening, October 25 from 6-8 p.m., Schubert Funeral Home, Sunbright. An
Eastern Star Service will follow visitation at 8 p.m. with the funeral
service following with Rev. Charles Northrup officiating. Graveside services
will be Thursday morning, 11 a.m. in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Burrville.
Arrangements by Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg.
COKER, WILLIAM EARL - age 89, a resident of Coalfield, passed away Monday,
October 23, 2000 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Coker was
preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Lee Coker; by his parents, Arnold Marion
Coker and Elizabeth Brock Coker; by three brothers, Randall Coker, Kenneth
Coker, and Edward Coker; and by two sisters, Pauline and Lavona Coker.
Survivors: sons, Bill Coker and wife, Sherline of Coalfield, Barry Coker and
wife, Linda of Memphis; daughters, Barbara Halburnt and husband, Jim of
Nashville, Beverly Parrott and husband, Robert of Rockwood; grandchildren,
Sherry Wilson, Ted Coker, Lisa Rush, Lori Ferrell, Rick Halburnt, John
Halburnt, Lee Ann Payne, Linda Parrott, Greg Coker; 6 great grandchildren
survive; Mr. Coker is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Coker
was born May 5, 1911 in the Jonesville Community of Roane County. He has
lived in Roane and Morgan County all of his life. He is a retired
self-employed painter who also worked at Union Carbide. He is a member of
Middle Creek Baptist Church where he taught the Adult Men's Sunday school
class for many years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 25,
2000 at 8:30 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with Rev. Donald
Daughterty officiating. Friends may call Wednesday, between the hours of
6:30-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial and graveside services will be
held Thursday, October 26, at 11 a.m. at Estes Cemetery of Coalfield. Sharp
Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
