WALLS, A.A. - of Knoxville died Friday. He was born November 27, 1925 in
Morgan County, Tenn. He graduated from Coalfield High School in 1943, and
then enlisted in the U.S. Army-Air Corp where he was a bombardier flying in a
B-17. During World War II he received two service medals. After the war he
graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor degree in
Mechanical Engineering. In January 1951 he married Louise Huskisson. He was
an engineer for Union Carbide for 5 years at the K-25 facility and 29 years
at the Y-12 and ORNL facilities. His professional memberships included the
"Professional Architect and Engineer Society of Tennessee" and the
"Toastmaster's Award" in the Fountain City Toastmasters. He was a member of
the Second Methodist Church of Knoxville for 45 years. His childhood church
was Middle Creek Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. He was preceded in death
by his father, Alex Walls; his mother, Mamie McGlothlin Walls; his wife of 45
years, Louise Walls; brothers, Warren and James Walls. Survivors include his
sister, Naomi Webster; special nieces, Susan Huskission and Judy Rhyne;
sister in law, Sarah Wimmyer; and brother in law, Harry Huskission; nieces,
Elaine Jump, Cheryl Kohlrieser; nephews, Richard Walls, Jim Webster, and Mike
Webster; and 15 great nieces and nephews; special friends, Ben Cathy and Rube
McCord. Funeral service 7 p.m. Saturday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel
with Rev. Bob Tripp, and Rev. Gerald H. McFarland officiating. Family and
friends will meet Sunday at Edgewood Cemetery for a 2 p.m. interment service
with military honors by the volunteer State Veteran Honor Guard. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Middle Creek Baptist Church
Stained Glass Window Fund, Oliver Springs, Tenn. or to the Second United
Methodist Church, 1524 Western Ave. Knoxville, Tenn. 37921. The family will
receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
