Hello, Rae: This sounds like hemochromatosis? The disease strikes people
of northern European descent and is sometimes called "the Celtic disease".
Several older people in our small town have been diagnosed with it. If
that's what it is, there's a great deal of information on the web.

Sorry to hear about your daughter; I know what one of my close friends is
going through.
