WILLIAM FRANKLIN "Bill" HEARNE Jr., 90, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday,
April 10, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Hearne was born Feb. 11, 1911, in Mangum, Okla. His parents were William
Franklin Hearne Sr., an Oklahoma state senator, and Estella Webb Hearne.
He lived in Mangum until being drafted by the U.S. Air Force during World War
II. Mr. Hearne served as a pilot and later became a flight instructor.
Following his discharge from the Air Force, he began employment with the
National Life and Accident Insurance Co. As part of his employment, he moved
his family to Oliver Springs in 1957 and lived there till his retirement.
He was a member of Middle Creek Baptist Church in Oliver Springs.
Mr. Hearne is survived by his daughter, Elaine Griffin and her husband,
David, of Powell; his sons, Tim Hearne and his wife, Cindy, of Joyner, and
William Franklin Hearne III of Harriman; and by his granddaughter, Lisa
Stephenson, and great-granddaughter, Brandi Hensley.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Louise Hearne, and a brother,
J.W. Hearne of Missouri.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Middle Creek
Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Guthrie officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is handling arrangements.
CLYDE H. FREELS, 65, of Oliver Springs, died early this morning, April 12,
2001, at his home.
