CHAPMAN, MR. GORDON "RUSSELL" - age 70 of Oakdale departed his earthly home
and entered his heavenly home, June 9, 2001 at UT Hospital. He was known for
his occupation as barber at Oakdale for over 35 years. He was a Christian and
faithful member of White Oak Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon of the
church in 1962. He was also a veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Albert and Rosa Chapman; sisters, Julie Cadle, Mary
Taylor, Fay Chapman, Georgia Langley, and Ruby Ooten; brothers, A.B., Harry,
John, and Ed Chapman. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 45
years, Betty Bingham Chapman; sons and daughters in law, Randy and Christine
Chapman, and Glen and Shirley Chapman. His well loved grandchildren, Cody,
Rudy, Dylan, and Leslie Chapman, all of Oakdale; brothers, L.E. Chapman of
Knoxville and Dalton Chapman of Oakdale; sisters, Betty Summers of Oakdale
and Robbie Headrick and Lucille Ball of Knoxville and a host of nieces and
nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, June 10, 2001 from
6-9 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will be held
Monday 2 p.m. at the White Oak Baptist Church in Oakdale with Bro. Billy
Walker and Chuck Wilborn officiating. Interment will follow in the Camp
Austin Cemetery, Oakdale.

SEXTON, MRS. ZETTIE YANCEY - age 96 of Powell, Tenn., formerly of Oneida,
Tenn. passed away Friday, June 8 at the Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. born
in Scott County, Tenn. July 27, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Thomas
and Martha Phillips Yancey. Mrs. Sexton had been living in Powell with her
daughter and son in law, Joyce and Eugene Chitwood. She was a member of the
Temple Baptist Church in Powell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Frank Sexton; and two children, Gurnell Sexton and
Janes Frank (Junior) Sexton. She is survived by three daughters, Reba
Thompson and husband, Jamon, Rema Watters and husband, Kenneth and Joyce
Chitwood and husband, Eugene all of Powell; one sister, Mabel Thompson of
Huntsville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and five
great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel
of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Clarence Sexton officiating. Graveside
services will be conducted Tuesday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at the Sexton Memorial
Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 until time
of the funeral service at 7:30 p.m. at Jones & Son Funeral Home. Jones & Son
Funeral Home of Onieda is in charge.
