They described him as a wonderful father and grandfather and a devoted
brother who was an honest, hard-working and respected man of God.
Mr. Gouge is survived by his wife, Beatrice West Gouge; three daughters,

Coalfield; two grandchildren, Caleb and Brenton, also of Coalfield; four
sisters, Kay Gamble and her husband, Tom, of Harriman, Rose Tarner and Opal
Covington, both of Coalfield, and Carol Daugherty and her husband, Larry, of

wife, Patsy Moore Gouge, all of Coalfield, Billy Gene Gouge and his wife,

Oakdale.
Mr. Gouge is also survived by his "second" mother, Anna Laura West of
Windrock; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Donnie Tinker was considered a special friend.
He was preceded in death by another daughter, Vanessa Rose; his parents,
James O. Gouge Sr. and Rena Liles Gouge; three sisters, Alma Jane Marsh, Mary
Wilma Edwards and Helen Sue Pelfrey; his father-in-law, Jesse Boyd West; two
brothers-in-law, Randall West and Frank Tarner; and three nephews, Larry
Wayne Daugherty, James David Edwards and Billy Lee Gouge.

Funeral Home in Wartburg with the Rev. Don Ambrose and the Rev. Harold Duncan
officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at
Jackson Cemetery in Coalfield.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
