BARTON BARRON BOWMAN Sr., age 77, of LaFollette, died Sunday, April 14, at
his home. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and retired from
Loby Block, after 50 years' employment.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Bowman.
He is survived by sons Jessie Lee, Jimmy Lee and Barton B. Bowman, Jr., all
of LaFollette; daughters Patricia Steakly of Speedwell, Barbara Goins, Linda
Baird and Betty Steakly, all of LaFollette; 19 grandchildren and a host of
great-grandchildren; brother Floyd Bowman, of Jacksboro; sisters Della
Housley, of Michigan and Bernice Lawson of Ohio.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 16, at Cross Funeral Home with Reverend
Tim Moore officiating. Interment was Wednesday, April 17, in Campbell
Memorial Gardens.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
BUFORD BROWN, age 76, of Martinez, Ga., formerly of Briceville, died
Saturday, April 13, at the University Hospital of Augusta. He was a member of
Windsor Spring Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in
WWII, Korea and Vietnam with more than 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Eva Brown; brother Ray
Brown; sister Helen McMahan.
He is survived by wife Mildred Brown of Martinez, Ga.; daughter Sharon Shaw
of Georgia; son Ted Brown of Georgia; sisters Violet Williams and Irene
Jones, both of Lake City; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, April 20, in the chapel of
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City, with the Reverend David Triplett
officiating.

ESTELL M. COX, 93, of LaFollette, died on Sunday, April 22, at the St. Mary's
Health and Rehab Center of Campbell County. She was the oldest member of
Cumberland View Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Luther Cox; sons Delmer and Dulan Cox;
one granddaughter; parent, James and Hester Ann Wilson Chadwick; sister Ocie
Crutchfield and brothers George, Arthur, Dewey and Pete Chadwick.
She is survived by son James Mae Cox of LaFollette; one granddaughter, four
great-grandchildren and five great-great-granchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home
with Rev. Bobby Ray Wilson and Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Interment was
in the Cumberland View Cemetery.

TERRY WADE DOPLE, 35, of Jellico, died on Saturday, April 20, at Baptist
Hospital in Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by father Kenneth Estes Dople.
He is survived by wife Charlotte Dople of Jellico; son Justin Dople of
Jellico; daughter Katie Dople of Jellico; step-father and step-mother Robert
and Willie Hicks of Jellico; five brothers, Kenny Dople of Clinton, Rodney
Dople of Clinton, Chris Dople of Clinton, Greg Dople of Newcomb and Bruce
Dople of Newcomb; three sisters, Lisa Dople of Newcomb, Patty Coyt of
Fairview, Ky., and Sherry Zecchini of Newcomb.
Funeral services were Monday, April 22, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
David Morgan and Rev. Jerry Yancey officiating. Interment was in the Douglas
Cemetery.

RAY FLOYD FORD, 61, of Jacksboro, died on Sunday, April 21, at the home of
his son. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Air
Force.
He was preceded in death by parents Floyd and Martha Miller Ford and sister
Edna Petree.
He is survived by sons Charles Ray Ford of Va.; Myron Lee of Jacksboro and
Bryon Keith Ford of LaFollette; daughters Arlene Denise Ford of Jacksboro and
Deanna Amelia of Clinton; seven grandchildren; brother Jennings Ford of
Georgia; sisters Marie Ramirez of California; Katherine Hamrick of Arkansas,
and Dorothy Smith, Grace White and Margaret Gibson, all of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Wednesday in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home
with Rev. Verlin Phillips officiating. Interment was in the Ponds Cemetery
with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

GOLDIE FRAZIER, age 68, of Morley died April 14 at her home.
She was preceded in death by parents Millard Hinkle and Gertrude Payne
Hinkle; and brothers William (Bill) Hinkle, Lester Hinkle, Chalk Hinkle and
Jay Hinkle.
She is survived by husband Eddie Frazier of Morley, sons Bobby Frazier, of
LaFollette, Larry Frazier, of Morley, Terry Frazier, of Chaska; daughters,
Nancy Voyles, of Morley, Debbie Miller, of Kokomo, Ind., Linda Bolton, of
Morley; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother Chester Hinkle, of
Newcomb; sisters Helen Nation, of Clinton, Viola Daugherty, of Lake City.
Funeral Services were Wednesday, April 17, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with
Reverend Melvin Blankenship and Reverend Jimbo Bolton officiating.
Burial was in the Frazier Family Cemetery.

ANNA MEA JOHNSON, age 88, of Cassopolis, Mich., formerly of Briceville, died
Tuesday, April 16, at the Sunbridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in
Elkhart, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by sons, James Johnson, of Cassopolis, Mich., and Robert
Johnson of Elkhart, Ind.
Funeral services were Friday, April 19, at the Cox-Martin Funeral Home
Chapel.
Interment was Saturday, April 20 at the Indian Bluff Cemetery, located in the
Braden's Flats Community.

CORA KEMP, age 83, of LaFollette, died Sunday, April 14, at St. Mary's
Medical Center of Campbell County. She was of the Baptist faith
She was preceded in death by husband Vermar Leroy Kemp; parents William and
Lizza Jane (Kennedy) Anderson; six brothers and nine sisters.
She is survived by sons Perry Kemp, of LaFollette, Leroy D. Kemp of Pierson,
Fla.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 18, at Antioch Baptist Church with
Reverend Carlie Duncan officiating.
Interment was in Riverview Cemetery (Smoky Junction Community.)

ORPHA V. LAWSON, 84, of Bloomington, Ill., died Thursday morning at her
residence.
She was the daughter of Otto and Dessie (Cazee) Lucas.She was an inspector at
R.C.A. with 30 years' service. She was a member of the McDoel Baptist Church
and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Williams and Mikki Watson, both of
Bloomington; three sons, Dale Webb and Charles E. Lawson, Jr., both of
Bloomington and Michael Lawson, of Bedford; 10 grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Lawson; five brothers,
Raymond Lucas, Edward Lucas, Harold Lucas, Otto Lucas and Harry Lucas; and
four sisters, Euphia Carpenter, Birdia Ladson, Eva Burton and Julia Bowers.
Funeral services were Saturday, at Day Mortuary Chapel, with Reverend Harold
Carter officiating. Interment followed in Valhulla Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Bloomington Hospital.

BILLIE MCGHEE, age 68, of Jacksboro, died Thursday, April 18, at Methodist
Center in Oak Ridge.
He was preceded in death by parents Millard S. and Grace (Russell) McGhee.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ruby Bullman McGhee of Jacksboro; six
children and five step-children: Teresa Gaylor, of Caryville, Chris McGhee of
Georgia, Finley McGhee, of Jamestown, Edith McGhee, of Georgia, Don McGhee,
of Caryville, Gary McGhee and Larry Lane, of California, Carlene Lane, of
Jamestown, Don Reece Jr. of Indiana, Reverend Tom Reece of Caryville, Donna
Reece Ivey, of Caryville; 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brothers
Jack McGhee, Jim McGhee, Leon McGhee, all of Ohio, Doyal McGhee of Caryville;
sisters, Marcel Mills, of LaFollette, Cora Faye, of Ohio.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 20, at Cross Funeral Home with Reverend
Don Whited officiating. Interment was in Mill Branch Cemetery in Huntsville.

home.

Phillips, Sharon Kay Rogers, and Vivian Comer, all of LaFollette; brothers,

PARIS NELSON, 73, of Jacksboro, died on Monday, April 22, at the St. Mary's
Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Alder Springs

He is survived by wife Nora Nelson; sons Bobby Joe Nelson and Glen Nelson,

Knoxville.

WILBUR EUGENE PROFITT, 73, Goshen, Ohio, formerly of Jellico died on Sunday,
April 21. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F &AM 527 and Scottish Rite
and was a member of the Milford VFW 6562, D.A.V Clermont Co. Chapter 63,
American Legion Post 0450. He was also a member of Harvest Worship Centre.
He is survived by wife Mary Margaret Walker Profitt; daughter Clara (Randy)
Philpot; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence
Proffitt, Willie Proffitt Jr., and sister, Gracie Donegan.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 24. Interment was in the Graceland
Memorial Gardens, Milford, Ohio. Memorials can be made to the Harvest Worship

ANCIL RIDINOUR (Junior), age 65, of 710 Stinking Creek, LaFollette, died
Tuesday, April 16, at the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. He
was a member of the Friendship Community Church.
He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Lola Ridenour; son, Danny Ridenour;
daughter, Aileen Ridenour; parents, Hugh and Nannie Ridenour.
Ridenour is survived by sons, Donald and David Ridenour; daughter Diane
Maxwell, all of LaFollette; 10 grandchildren, one great-great-grandson;
brothers Earl Ridenour, of Jacksboro, and Bobby and Billy Ridenour of
LaFollette; sisters Ann Hatfield and Wanda Stewart of LaFollette; and foster
parents Reverend and Mrs. Andrew Ayers, of LaFollette.

Reverend Andrew Ayers and Reverend Danny Moser officiating.

Shiflet of Speedwell; brothers Earl Shiflet of Indiana and Don Shiflet of

Reverend James Taylor and Reverend Donnie Powers officiating. Interment was

HELEN NADINE HEATHERLY STEPHENS, age 76, of Clinton died April 16 at St.
Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a graduate of Central High School
of Jacksboro and Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. She was a member of
the Clinton First Baptist Church; Clinch Bend Chapter of Daughters of the
American Revolution; a founding member of the Lucinda Heatherly Tent Daughter
of Union Veterans; a member of Phillissippi Geological Society; Anderson
County Historical Society; Campbell County Historical Society and the
Anderson County Retired Teachers' Association.
She was preceded in death by parents, Brice and Emmaline Heatherly and a
cousin who was raised as a brother, Harold Spangler.
She is survived by husband of 41 years, A.M. Stephens of Clinton; sons Joseph
and John Stephens, both of Clinton; sisters Sue Miller of LaFollette and
Bobbie Kirkpatrick of Mt. Juliet; and brothers Evan Heatherly of Bon Aqua and
Jack Heatherly of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 18, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home, with Dr. Paul Frick officiating.
Interment was Friday, April 19, at Baker's Forge Memorial Cemetery in

LARRY EDWARD SWAFFORD, 52, of Hixson, Tenn., died on Saturday, April 13 in
Erlanger Medical Center. He was a sergeant with the Chattanooga Police
Department and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by Myria Swafford of Jellico.
He is survived by wife Shelia Holland Swafford and sons Mark Swafford, Brian
Swafford and Thomas Swafford, all of Hixson; father Paul Swafford of
LaFollette; brothers Mike Swafford of Bangor, Me., Woody Swafford, Ricky
Swafford and Johnny Swafford of Jellico.

REBECCA L. TAULBEE, 53, of Jacksboro, died on Sunday, April 21, at St. Mary's
Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Jacksboro Church
of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Louise Greene Petty.
She is survived by husband Harold Taulbee of Jacksboro; sons Harold Taulbee
Jr. of Johnson City, Anthony Taulbee of Caryville, and Jeremy Taulbee of
Indiana and three grandchildren.

WARREN F. WOODS, age 80, of 267 Hill Lane of Caryville, died Wednesday, April
17, at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Knoxville. He was a member of the
Bear Wallow Baptist Church. He served his country during WWII while in the
Army under General Patton. He was a member of the Tank Division.
He was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Annie Woods.
He is survived by wife April B. Woods of Caryville; sons Warren Ervin Woods,
of Jacksboro, Hobert Robbins Jr. of Ohio, James Edward Robbins of Georgia;
daughters Carolyn Sue Disney and Linda Morgan, both of Ohio, Mary Alice
Woods, of Morristown, and Sue Letner of LaFollette; 12 grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren; and sisters Opal Adkins and Eva Adkins, both of
Jacksboro.
