GIDCUMB, SARAH L. - age 77, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2002, at her home in
Knoxville, Tenn. A long-time member of the First Baptist Church, Concord, she
was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and an accomplished
life-master duplicate bridge player in the Knoxville, Oak Ridge, and Clinton
areas. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Gidcumb; parents,
Carrie and Paul Stiff; sister, Florence Stiff, and brother, Arthur Stiff.
Survivors include daughter, Sandra Sutton of Morganton, N.C.; son and
daughter-in-law, Jim and Cathy Gidcumb of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters, Mary
Prindle and Virginia Bartlett, of Owensboro, Ky.; grandchildren, Michael
Rairdon of Belleville, Ill., Julie Hollis of Indianapolis, Ind., and Brian
Rairdon of Hampton, Va.; great- grandchildren, Logan Rairdon, Jared Rairdon,
Heather Ann Hollis, and Justin Hollis, and many dear friends. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Concord,
Tenn. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 7, at First
Baptist Church, Concord, 11704 Kingston Pike, from 6-8 p.m., followed by a
Celebration Service at 8 p.m. An additional visitation will be held on
Wednesday, May 8, at Highland West Funeral Home, 9913 Sherrill Lane,
Knoxville, Tenn., from 9-10 a.m., followed by graveside services led by Rev.
Steve Peek. Arrangements by Highland West Funeral Home, 588- 0567.
HONEYCUTT, TRESSIE LANGLEY - age 97, of Oakdale, went to be with the Lord on
Sunday, May 5, 2002. She has been a resident of Royal Care of Harriman, now
Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Piney Baptist
Church, Oakdale, and had lived in Morgan and Roane County all her life. She
was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Farrell L. Honeycutt, and also
by six brothers, Welda, Edgar, Everett, Ray, Cecil and Leonard Langley, and
one sister, Laura Langley McGee. She is survived by two sons, and their
wives, Wade and Polly Honeycutt of Harriman, and Wayne and Rena Honeycutt of
Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; one daughter and her husband, Maxine and Kenneth "Bud"
Cochran of Harriman; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and three
great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and the nurses,
CNA's, and caregivers at the nursing home, who gave her loving care for many
years. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, from 4- 8
p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg Chapel. Funeral services will begin
at 8 p.m. with Rev. Pat McGee and Rev. Bryan Hollaway officiating. A
Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, 11 a.m. in Piney Church
Cemetery, Oakdale. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
Gideon Bible Fund, Piney Baptist Church, or to the Fort Oglethorpe First
Baptist Church Building Fund, Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. 30742.
QUEENER, FONCY BREWER TURNER - age 88, of LaFollette, passed away Saturday,
May 4, 2002, at St. Mary's Health and Rehab Center. She was a member of First
Baptist Church of St. Charles, Va. Preceded in death by first husband,
Herbert Turner and second husband, John F. Queener. Retired from Imperial
Reading in LaFollette, after 25 years of service. Survivors: daughters, Marie
Lane and Martha Grant, both of LaFollette; grandchildren, Karen Minor,
Jennifer Kirkpatrick, and Lt. Jon C. Grant, USN; great- grandchildren,
Kristin and Kelcie Minor, and Rachel Grant. Funeral service 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Cross Chapel, Rev. Ronnie Arnold officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m.
Wednesday, Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday at Cross Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
the East Tennessee Chapter, Alzheimer's Association, P. O. Box 10088-9910,

TURNER, VIVIAN - age 74, a resident of Dandridge, Tenn., formerly of Oliver
Springs, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2002, at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital
in Jefferson City. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Sharp
Funeral Home, in Oliver Springs, in charge of arrangements.
WRIGHT, LAWTON D.boy - age 74, of 711 Rose Hill Dr., LaFollette, passed away
suddenly, Saturday, May 4, 2002, at his home. He was a member of Covenant
Life Church Lake City, and a Veteran of World War II. He had been employed at
the Royal Lunch for 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, and brother,
and was loved by all. Preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Wright; son, D.boy
Wright; daughter, Mary Jane Phillips and grandson, Steven Lynn Brown and
parents, B. Wright and Jane Byrd Wright. Survived by son, James "Bubby"
Wright; daughters, Nova Jean Brown, Teressa K. Boruff and Christy Inman, all
of LaFollette, Cindy Tinnel of Jacksboro; sister, Nova Wright of LaFollette;
12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and
a host of relatives and friends. Funeral service Tuesday, 2 p.m., Martin
Wilson Chapel with Rev. Tony McAffee and Rev. Asbury Byrd officiating.
Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with full military honors by the
Campbell County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m.
Monday at Martin Wilson Funeral Home, LaFollette.
