DIXON, GERALD JUDSON - age 80
LAFOLLETTE: Fayetta Miller, 79.
LAKE CITY: Carol Foust Carden, 52.

CARDEN, CAROL FOUST - age 52 of Lake City, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, May
22, 2002 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn. She was a
member of the Carroll Hollow Baptist Church. Carol was a loving daughter,
wife, mother & grandmother. Carol was preceded in death by 1st husband, Kenny
Martin; father, Johnny L. Foust; grandson, Joshua Hunter Foust. Survivors:
husband, Leonard Carden of Lake City, Tenn.; son, Michael Foust & wife,
Selena of Andersonville, Tenn.; grandson, John Michael Foust of
Andersonville, Tenn.; mother, Carrie Mae Beech Foust of Andersonville, Tenn.;
stepdaughters, Elizabeth Lynn, Connie Jo & Sandy Jean, all of Michigan; host
of other relatives & friends. The family will receive friends Friday night,
May 24, 2002 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
in Lake City with funeral service following at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Benny
Hall, Rev. David Crowe, and Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating. Interment will
be Saturday May 25, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Hillvale Baptist Church Cemetery
in Andersonville. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City in charge of all
arrangements.

DIXON, GERALD JUDSON - age 80, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2002. He was
born November 16, 1921, in Winters, Texas. He graduated from the University
of Texas at Austin in March, 1944, with a B. S. degree in chemical
engineering. He worked on the Manhattan Project at Columbia University in New
York City and at Oak Ridge, Tenn. Mr. Dixon continued working at the Oak
Ridge National Lab for Union Carbide and its successor, Martin Marietta
Energy Systems, until his retirement in 1986. He loved to fish, garden, and
play bridge. Late in life, he developed a rare neurological disorder,
Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He faced this disease with courage,
never complaining of his illness. Even with developing disabilities, he was
able to play bridge until a few weeks ago. He is preceded in death by his
parents, Dr. J. W. and Elizabeth Longley Dixon, a son, Douglas O'Hara Dixon,
and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Dixon. Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife of 55
years, Carolyn O'Hara Dixon; daughter and son-in-law, Donna R. and Donald T.
Sokol, and granddaughter, Jessie Elisse Sokol, all of Farragut, Tenn.;
brothers, Dr. J. W. Dixon and wife, Lenora of Waco, Texas, Henry L. Dixon and
wife, Jeannette of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and identical twin brother, Harold
Winston Dixon of Dickinson, Texas. Mr. Dixon is at Highland West Funeral
Home, 9913 Sherrill Lane, where the family will receive friends from
10:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.
Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vernon F. Holstad officiating.
Burial will follow in the Highland West Cemetery. The family request, any
memorials be in the form of donations to the Society for PSP, Woodholme
Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208,
(1-800-457-4777). Arrangements by Highland West Funeral Home, 693- 9547.

MILLER, FAYETTA - age 79, passed from this life Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at
her home in the Fincastle Community in LaFollette. The eldest child of the
late Luther and Maggie (Shelby) Miller, Ms. Miller was a life long member of
Glade Springs Baptist Church. A person of faith and work, Fayetta Miller will
be greatly missed by friends and family. She is survived by brother and
sister-in-law, Zeno and Lovetta Miller of LaFollette; sister and brother-
in-law, Imogene and Kenneth Engle of Knoxville; three nieces and their
husbands, Karisa (Engle) and Byron Booker of Knoxville, Kimberly Miller and
Jamie Day of Lexington, Ky., and Kay (Miller) and Mark Turner of Chattanooga;
one grand nephew, Stephen Turner and two grand nieces, Katherine and Laura
Beth Turner. The family will receive friends from 1 til 2 p.m. Friday, May
24, at Cross Chapel with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Don Reynolds
officiating. Interment in Bakers Forge Cemetery. Arrangements by Cross
Funeral Home.
