BRADEN, JACK MOORE - age 64, of Clinton, passed away at his residence Monday,
July 8, 2002. He was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church. Preceded in death
by parents, Jesse Richard and Ruby Young Moore Braden. Jack was born October
27, 1937, in Anderson County. Survivors: sisters, Mary Nelle Carden and
husband, Bob of Clinton, Jenny Irwin and husband, Jimmy of Clinton, Barbara
Foust and husband, Kenneth of Andersonville, and Janie Irwin of
Andersonville; brothers, Jesse T. Braden and wife, Carolyn of Clinton, Robert
L. Braden and wife, Helen of Clinton, and James Braden and wife, Betty of
Clinton, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friend, Charles
Gray of Clinton. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday,
July 11, 2002, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Graveside service
will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joe
Bridges officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American
Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720. Holley Gamble
Funeral Home, of Clinton, in charge of all arrangements.
COBLE, JOHN WILLIAM - age 86, of 218 Hilldale Lane, LaFollette, passed away
Monday, July 8, 2002, at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He
was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Coble
enjoyed carving and wood working, gardening, and was an avid Churchgoer. He
was a World War II Veteran. He loved his family very much. He was preceded in
death by parents, Walter Guy and Carmen Grimes Coble, and two brothers. Mr.
Coble is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn S. Coble of LaFollette; son
and daughter-in-law, Gary Sr. and Anne Coble of Corryton, Tenn.;
granddaughters and husbands, Jennifer and Steven McQuilkin of Lenoir City,
Tenn., Emily and Stephen Hayes of Casa Grande, Ariz., Cynthia and Jeff
Loveday; grandson, Morgan Coble, all of Corryton, Tenn.; three
great-grandchildren, Natalie, Suzanne and Lauren McQuilkin, and several
nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral
services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints with President Russell Figueira, Elder Bruce Williams and Elder Gene
Muggridge officiating. Full military honors will be held by the Campbell
County Honor Guard. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery
in Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to a charity
of your choice. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon to 1 p.m.
Wednesday, before services at the church. Martin Wilson Funeral Home, of
LaFollette, is in charge of the arrangements.
HENSLEY, MRS. HELEN L. (GRANNY) - age 87, of LaFollette, passed away Monday,
July 8, 2002, at the Lake City Health Care Center. She was of the Baptist
Faith. A member of the East LaFollette Baptist Church. She loved her family
and her church. She was preceded in death by husband, Laton Hensley;
daughter, Sandra Willoughby; parents, Walter and Delcie Richards; brothers,
Willy Craig and Alvey Craig; sisters, Mabel Skielbeck, Annie Mitchell, and
Pearl Buckner. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Hensley and wife,
Peggy, and Larry Hensley; daughters and sons-in-law, Louise Marlow and
husband, Dan (deceased), Linda Archer and husband, William F., Barbara
Hatmaker and husband, Michael; sisters, Grace Goins; 11 grandchildren; seven
great- grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and a host of
nephews and nieces and special friends. Special friends, Paul Cordell and
Bobby Heatherly. She was known to many as Granny. Funeral services Wednesday
at 8 p.m. at East LaFollette Baptist Church, Rev. Danny King officiating. The
family of Helen L. (Granny) Hensley will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to
8 p.m. before services. Interment 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sunrise Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.
MacGREGOR, KATHERINE LINK - age 98, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away
Saturday, July 6, 2002, at her home. Mrs. MacGregor was preceded in death by
her parents, Henry William Link and Louise H. Link, and by her husband, Jack
MacGregor. Survivors: daughter, Dougal Moore and husband, Peyton of Oliver
Springs; grandchildren, Gilbert Moore and wife, Nancy of Villa Rica, Georgia
and Minta Milvain and husband, Steve of Colorado Springs, Colo.;
great-grandchildren, Joanne Moore, Joseph Moore, Anna Milvain, and Karina
Milvain; sisters, Lillian Paris of San Diego, Calif., Marion Leigon of
Asheville, N.C., and Louise Weathers of Boca Raton, Fla. Mrs. MacGregor was
born September 6, 1903, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. During her lifetime,
she lived in most of the southern states, and lived in the Oak Ridge area
since 1971. She graduated from the Asheville Normal, Asheville, North
Carolina, in 1922, and taught school for about 10 years. She then worked at
various occupations until her retirement in 1978. Mrs. MacGregor was a member
of the Oak Ridge Alliance Church. Graveside services were held at the Moore
Family Cemetery in McCalla, Alabama, with Reverend Gilbert Moore officiating,
on Monday, July 8, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, July 20, at 4:30 p.m., at West Hills Presbyterian Church, 7600
Bennington Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee. The family will receive friends at
that time. In lieu of flowers, the family ask, memorial contributions be made
to The Gideon International, P.O. Box 4213, Oak Ridge, TN 37931. Sharp
Funeral Home, is in charge of the arrangements.
