Carl Willis Kidd, 88, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at
Briarcliff Health Care Center, where he had been a resident for the past 10
years.
Mr. Kidd was born December 1, 1914, in Knoxville, the son of Arthur Houston
Kidd and Ruby May Stewart Kidd. He came to Oak Ridge in 1943 and retired from
Union Carbide Nuclear Division, Y-12 Plant, where he was a driver.
He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, where he was involved in many
of the church's ministries including the printing ministry and the jail
ministry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Guinn Kidd, who died Aug. 21,
1995, a daughter, Kathleen Owens, who died Sept. 21, 1994, and by a
granddaughter, Terri Owens, who died March 2, 1985.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Buchanan and her husband, Bill, of
Knoxville; a son-in-law, Robert W. Owens Sr., of Oak Ridge; four
grandchildren, Kim Owens Damewood and her husband, Ed, of Sevierville, Wayne
Owens and his wife, Rhonda, of Caryville, and David Buchanan and Scott
Buchanan and his wife, Karen, all of Knoxville; four great-grandchildren,
Beth, Justin, Parker and Tanner; and by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2003, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Garvan Walls and Rev. Keith Price officiating.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, at Mount Pisgah
Baptist Church cemetery.
The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the
Mount Pisgah Printing Ministry, 15 Old Hen Valley Road, Oliver Springs, TN
37840.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
