BUNCH, DELKINS McKINLEY (D.M. or DELK) - age 82, of Halls, passed away on
Saturday, August 30, 2003, at the Baptist Hospital. He was a member of the St.
Luke Methodist Church and a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded
in death by his daughter, Sue Bunch and grandson, Ricky Bunch. He is survived
by the mother of his children, Trucilla Wright Bunch; sons and
daughters-in-law, Jim and Shirley Bunch, and David and Sandie Bunch, all of Knoxville;
daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Owens of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren. A very special thanks goes to the staff at East
Tennessee Baptist Hospital and East Tennessee Oncology / Hematology Staff, Dr. Arnold
Hudson, Dr. Syed Ahmed and Dr. Harry Bishop. The family will receive friends
from 6 p.m. til 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at the Woodhaven Funeral
Home with the service to follow at 8 p.m., Rev. Wyn Bryant and Rev. Kent
Williams will officiate. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday,
September 3, 2003, at the Woodhaven Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet
at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Woodhaven Funeral Home, is in charge of
arrangements.

FRENCH, MAMIE MAY - age 90, an Oliver Springs resident, went home to be with
the Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 31, 2003, in the comfort of her loving
family and dear friends. Mrs. French was the wife of the late James "Eddie"
French, who together founded the local French's Markets. Mamie was born on August
2, 1913, in the Fairview Community of Oliver Springs. She was the youngest of
twelve children born to the late Abe and Matie May. She is the mother of ten
children including the late James D. French and Shirley F. Huling. She was a
lifelong resident of Roane County and a member of the Order of Eastern Star
Oliver Springs Chapter and a member of the New Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors: sons, Robert "Gene" French of Knoxville, Thaxton French and wife, Brenda of
Swansea, S.C., Howard French and wife, Vickie of Oliver Springs, and Ray
French and wife, Sheila of Oliver Springs; daughters, Mattie Freeman and husband,
J. R. of Oliver Springs, Betty Bray and husband, Roger of Oliver Springs,
Elaine Johnson and husband, Malcolm of Oliver Springs, and Lois Yarborough and
husband, Jerry of Oliver Springs; 32 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and
nine great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday,
September 2, 2003, between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. in Sharp Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at New
Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Queener and Rev. Kenny Stubbs
officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at New Fairview Cemetery. Sharp
Funeral Home, is in charge of the arrangements.

UNDERWOOD, ALBERT GLENN - age 82, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, August
14, 2003, at Ft. Sanders Hospital in Knoxville. He was born February 24, 1921,
in the Scarborough Community. He lived in both Anderson and Blount Counties
for many years. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Ann Underwood.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ruth Underwood; two children, Mary Voyles
of Knoxville, and Clifford Underwood of Bulls Gap, Tenn.; four grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren, and one sister, MaryNell Currier of Oak Ridge. Mr.
Underwood was cremated. No funeral services are planned but a memorial service to
honor Mr. Underwood will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at
Valley View Baptist Church in Knoxville, with Rev. Dewey Cooper and Rev. Ronald
Steele officiating. All friends and relatives of Mr. Underwood are asked to
