Leroy Berry, 65, LaFollette, died Friday, October 10, 2003 at St. Mary’s
Medical Center in Campbell County.He was a member of Speedwell Academy Baptist
Church. Leroy loved fishing, hunting, football, bowling, drag racing, having
received several trophies.He is preceded in death by his sons, Brandon Murphy,
Timothy Berry; parents, Cecil and Georgia Stiner Berry; brother, John Berry.Leroy
is survived by his wife, Sherrie Berry, LaFollette; children and spouses,
Carol and John Fortney, Canton, OH, Brenda and Terry Heatherly, Jacksboro, Leroy
Jr. and Connie Berry, LaFollette, Lisa and Alvy Thomas, Canton, OH., Dawn and
Kevin Sharp, Jacksboro, Tim Berry and Leanne Berry, both of LaFollette;
grandchildren, Sarah and Travis Umstead, Connor Heatherly, Tim Berry, Tara Farcus,
Chris McDaniel and Alvy Thomas III; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Host and
Gavin Morris; sisters, Edna Bull, Murriel Turner, Faye Bean, and Lucille Childs;
several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral
services were Sunday, October 12 at Speedwell Academy Baptist Church with
Reverends Dwane Byrd and David Goins officiating. Interment followed in Bakers
Forge Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, October 11 in Martin Wilson

Wilmer E. Bowman, 91, Monroe, MI, died Wednesday, October ?, 2003 at Mercy
Memorial Hospital. Born May 26, 1912, in Speedwll, Tenn, he was the son of
Elisha and Sarah J. (Hall) Bowman. His stepmothers were Eva and Viola bowman. He
married Lois L McCarty August 9, 1946, in Bowling Green, OH. He worked for Union
Camp Corp. (formerly River Raisin Paper Co.) for more than 37 years, retiring
June 1, 1977; he served with Civilian Conservation Corp. before service in
the Army Air Corps. October, 1940, until July, 1945. He was a member of 12th
Army Air Corps and flew 62 combat mission. He was a top turret gunner of B-25 and
served with the 324th Bombardment Group. He earned the Purple Heart, Silver
Star, Certificate of Valor; Distinguished Flying Cross; Air Medal with six oak
leaf clusters; European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with five bronze stars,
and American Campaign Medal.He was a member of the 57th Bomb Wing Association
for World War II.Wilmer was preceded in death by four brothers, Elisha Paris,
Clem, Eugene and Hall; five sisters; an infant; Edith Lee, Gladys, Mary
Elizabeth and Elise.Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Alice Faye Beckham,
Temperance, Judy A. Amerman, Monroe; brother, Elisha Jr. (Georgette), Woodbury;
eight sisters, Esther Lee (Louis) Hopkins, Helen (Taylor) Goins and Dorothy
Vallade, all of Monroe, Carrie (Jesse) Bailey, Jonesville, Myrtle (Buddy) Bean and
Starly (Craig) Sherwood, both of Lavergne, Della Evans, Speedwell, and Barbara
Shoemaker, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The received friends Friday at Rupp Funeral Home.Funeral services were
Saturday, with Rev. Roy Southerland officiating.Burial was in the Roselawn Memorial
Park, LaSalle along with graveside services.The Monroe Post 1138, veterans of
Foreign Wars helped conduct the graveside services.Memorials may be made to
Monroe Post 1138, VFW.

Delbert Luther Clotfelter, 79, Jacksboro, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at
St. Mary’s Medical Center in Campbell County. He was a World War II veteran with
over 30 years service in the Department of Defense, Navy, Air Force, Merchant
Marine and Coast Guard. He was a member of Jacksboro Masonic Lodge #322 F&AM
32. Mr. Clotfelter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed
gardening and his dogs.Delbert is preceded in death by his parents, William and
Julie Marlowe Clotfelter; brothers, Harvey, Elbert, Roy and Lee Clotfelter;
sisters, Pearl Paul, Martha Clotfelter and Essie Clotfelter.He is survived by
his wife, Edna Barr Clotfelter, Jacksboro; sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert
Jr. and Lisa Clotfelter, Jacksboro, Joseph and Tina Gregory, Oak Ridge;
daughters and sons-in-law, Georgia and Charles Sampson, LaFollette, Brenda and David
Thomas, Jacksboro; grandchildren, Lynn Daugherty, LaFollette, Eric Mason
Clotfelter, LaFollette, Cheyenne Thomas, Jacksboro and Lauren Belle Lane, Oak
Ridge; great-grandchildren, Steven Daugherty, Bobby and Michael Russell, all three
of LaFollette, Katelyn Clotfelter, Jacksboro; brother, John Clotfelter,
LaFollette and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services were Thursday,
October 9 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Tim Moore officiating.Interment
was Friday, October 10 in Campbell Memorial Gardens with the Campbell County
Honor Guard in charge of graveside services. The family received friends

Millard Dople, 84, London, KY, formerly of Elk Valley, died Monday, October
13, 2003 at Pineville Community Hospital, Pineville, KY.He was born August 23,
1919, at Jellico Creek, KY, the son of the late Charlie and Martha Reynolds
Dople. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of Stanfill
United Baptist Church.Millard is survived by his wife, Pauline Harris Dople,
London, KY; sons, Newman Dople and Howard Dople, both of Jellico, Millard Dople
Jr., Elk Valley; daughters, Alice McNealy, Woolridge, Edna Lay and Robin
Searcy, both of Elk Valley; step children, Judy Fuller, Kenneth Harris, Jean Tune,
Jerry Harris, Ronald Harris, Mark Harris, Clark Harris, all of London, KY,
Kathleen Ballard, Elk Valley; 11 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; brother, Carl Dople,
Newcomb; sisters, Christine Moore, Pine Knot, KY, Ruth Perry, Jellico Creek,
KY.Funeral services were Tuesday, October 14 at the Cox & Son Chapel with Reverends
Ronnie Thomas and Kenneth Ballard officiating. Interment was Wednesday, October
15 in the Valley View Cemetery with Military Honors by Campbell County Honor
Guard. Cox & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Wayne Edward Giles, 72, Clinton, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at the
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist
Church in Lake City. He was born November 13, 1930 in Anderson County. He is
preceded in death by his wife, Christine Edington Giles; parents, Fredrick and
Alberta Steele Giles.Wayne is survived by his sons, Michael and wife Sinamar
Giles, Russell and wife Donna Giles, all of Anderson County, John and wife Sylvia
Giles, VA., Greg and wife Bobetta Giles, Miss.; daughter, Deborah and husband
Charlie Keck, Anderson County.Graveside services were Saturday, October 11 at
the Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Mark Akers officiating.Interment followed in
the Graveside service at the Oak Grove Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials

Lela Belle Gordon, Carlisle, OH, formerly of Lot, KY., died Thursday, October
9, 2003 at Hospice Care Center, Dayton, OH.She was born July 11, 1907 at Lot,
KY, the daughter of the late Preston Hamblin and Anna Williams Hamblin.Lela
is preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Gordon in 1979, and a
daughter, Mary Ann Gordon.She is survived by five sons, Harold and Rosella Gordon,
London, KY., Billy Ray and Elaine Gordon, Springboro, OH., James C. and Lena
Gordon, Middlesboro, KY., Leroy and Jackie Gordon and Loyd H. & Bera Gordon ,
all of Carlisle, OH.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
sister-in-law and a very special family member, Mossie Callahan.Funeral services were
Saturday, October 11 at Boston Baptist Church with Reverends Perry Bilyeu and

Wilbert J. (Bill) Parrish, 88, Brooksville, FLA, died September 28, 2003. He
worked as plant manager of American Metals in LaFollette.Bill is survived by
his wife, Virginia Parrish, Brooksville, FLA; son, Robert Parrish, Augusta, MI;
two sisters, Georgia Post, Palm Harbor, FLA, Harriett Thompson, Marshall
MI.Burial was in Battle Creek MI.

Lydda Evelyn (Branam) Smiddy, 64, Stinking Creek, died Saturday, October 11,
2003.She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Cora (Ayers) Branam;
brothers, Monroe and Vestal Branam.Lydda is survived by her husband of 32 years,
Jerry Roger Smiddy, Stinking Creek; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Claudia
Branam, LaFollette; special grandson, Justin Warner; sisters, Ethel Smiddy,
both of LaFollette, Joyce Bolton, Stinking Creek; sister and brother-in-law,
Mary L. and Jimmy Sands; brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Opal Branam, all
of Stinking Creek and a host of nieces and nephews; very special friends,

Eulalia Faye Martin, 83, Morristown, formerly of LaFollette, died October 8,
2003.This prayer warrior leaves a rich legacy of unshakable faith and power in
prayer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Rev. Kyle
Martin and her only brother, Henry Goins.Eulalia is survived by her son, Ron
Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Bob and Kyla Rowland Mullins, Morristown; sister,
Lillian Shepherd, LaFollette seven grandchildren, Todd Martin, Candi Martin,
Dr. Charles and Allyson (Rowland) Kinard, Barry and Tammy Rowland, Greg and Judy

surrounded by her family on October 12, 2003. She was born July 20, 1933 in
LaFollette, the daughter of the late Thad and Pheba (Lumkins) Goins.Mrs. Walker was
employed by Copeland Corp. for 30 years retiring in 1998. She was a member of
Sidney Baptist Church for 45 years.She is preceded in death by four brothers and
one sister. Claudia is survived by her husband, Havey B. Walker; sons, Mike
Walker, Keith and Pam Walker; daughters, Sherry and David Moran, Kaye and
Daniel O’Leary, all of Sidney, OH; three grandsons, Ryan Moran and Fiance, Sara
Bauer, Devine and Derek O’Leary, all of Sidney, OH; brothers, Jack Goins, Sidney,

and loved attending church and truly loved her Lord with all her heart, mind
and soul.She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lee Ward; son, George
Junior Ward; granddaughter, Shelia Moore; great-grandson, Zachary Hicks and
parents, Isaac & Priscilla Duncan.Julia is survived by her granddaughter,
Charlotte Hicks and husband, Jerry, Briceville; great-grandchildren, Shenna Moore,
Kayla Hicks and Jeremy Hicks; sister, Nellie Wilson, Harriman; daughter-in-law,
Lola Ward, Briceville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives

WellsCharles M. (Chuck) Wells, 62, LaFollette, died Saturday, October 11,
2003 at his home. He was a member of the Middlesboro Highway Church of God, and a
retired teacher with the Campbell County School System with 37 years of
service.He was preceded in death by his parents, A. V. and Minnie Wells.Charles is
survived by his wife, Martha Ivey Wells; sons, Charles A. (Chuck) Wells and
wife Kelly, all of LaFollette, Quinn S. Wells, Birmingham, ALA.; two
grandchildren, Katie and Carter Wells, LaFollette; sisters, Virginia Cupp, Cincinnati,
OH., Jessie Parker, LaFollette and Evelyn Baker and husband, Bill, Dayton, OH.;
brothers, Lee Wells and wife, Loretta, LaFollette, Aaron (Dode) Wells and
wife, Elnoria, LaFollette; several nieces nephews, and other relatives and
