Kendal Duke Adamski, 42, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at St.
Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville.
He was born Aug. 1, 1961, in Oak Ridge.
He was an auto mechanic with Claxton Automotive Machine Shop and he attended
St. Mary's Catholic Church. His family said he was an avid outdoorsman and
loved fishing and target shooting.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Joseph Adamski, on May 24,
1976; a brother, Terry Regan Adamski, on Dec. 18, 2002; and by his
mother-in-law, Dixie Hicks, on June 16, 1999.
Mr. Adamski is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kimberly Ann Hicks Adamski;
his mother, Rebecca Duke Adamski of Oak Ridge; a brother, Ronald Adamski of
Oak Ridge; his father-in-law, Chester Hicks and wife, Kathy, of Greensboro,
Fla.; three brothers-in-law, James Hicks and wife, Sherry, of Quincy, Fla., Mark
Hicks of Oak Ridge and Michael Hicks and wife, Connie, of Oliver Springs; his
sister-in-law, Kathy Johnston of Crossville; several nieces and nephews; and by
his faithful dog and companion, Priscilla.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Woodhaven
Memorial Gardens in Claxton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at
Weatherford Mortuary.
Charles Norman Hannah, 53, of Knoxville, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at his
home.
Born June 21, 1950, in Oak Ridge, he was the son of Howard Henry and Lucille
Hicks Hannah.
Before his medical retirement, Mr. Hannah worked with Reality Management in
Oak Ridge. He had also worked at Shoney's Family Restaurant in Knoxville, and
had been a freelance contractor for the Sexton Co. in Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Martin Hannah, and by two sisters,
Betty Leach and Margie Weathersby.
Mr. Hannah is survived by three daughters, Amanda Hannah Chambers and
husband, Scott, of Clinton, Chrissy Hannah and husband, Tony Gibson, of Oak Ridge,
and Telitha Denise Smith; two sisters, Nancy Hannah of Atlanta, Ga., and Carolyn
Foust and husband, Jimmy, of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, Howard Hannah and
wife, Sandra, of Oak Ridge and Jerry Hannah and wife, Jeannie, of Knoxville;
two grandchildren, Austin Chambers and Zachary Kidwell; and by several nieces
and nephews.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Rick Miller officiating.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Oak Ridge
Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Donnie Miller Blevins, 89, of Shady Valley, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at
Bristol Medical Center.
She was the daughter of George and Clara Miller.
A lifelong resident of Shady Valley, her family said she was known for her
gardening and craft skills. She was an accomplished quilter and particularly
enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. Prior to her retirement, she worked with
her husband for many years in several small businesses that they owned. For
more than 50 years, she was an active member of the Shady Valley Presbyterian
Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Argus
Blevins, and by a son, Ralph Blevins.
Mrs. Blevins was survived by two daughters, Louise Dunlap and husband,
Julian, of Oak Ridge and Kathleen Britts and husband, Ramon, of Fairfax Station,
Va.; four grandchildren, Leigh Dunlap of Alexandria, Va., Lynn Dunlap and
husband, Moses DeMello, of Asheville, N.C., Jennifer Britts Connors of Vienna, Va.,
and Eric Britts of Fairfax Station; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Demello and
Matthew Demello, both of Asheville; two brothers, Aster Miller of Huntsville,
Ala., and Avery Miller of Piney Flats; and by one sister, Izetta Triplett of
Bluff City.
Percy-Hux Funeral Home in Mountain City is in charge of arrangements, which
were incomplete at press time.
Elaine Gruen Johnson, 85, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Sun City, Ariz., died
Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born July 27, 1918, in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of Gilbert Joseph
Gruen and Antoinette ReneƩ Hausser Gruen.
Mrs. Johnson retired from Ford Motor Co. where she was an executive
assistant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Clifford V. Johnson, on June 23, 1993.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by two stepdaughters, Avis McLaughlin and husband,
Larry, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Laura Phillips and husband, Bob, of Lewiston,
Mich.; her brother, Gilbert Joseph Gruen Jr. and wife, Kathleen, of Oak
Ridge; two nieces, Leslie Barbour and husband, David, of Oak Ridge and Antoinette
R. Linz of Reston, Va.; her nephew, Gilbert Gruen III of Plano, Texas; and by
several grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family members.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Weatherford
Mortuary with the Rev. Boyd Carter officiating.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the
Alzheimer's Association, 2200 Sutherland Ave., Knoxville, TN 37919.
Cornelia Augustine Williams, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004,
at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born Nov. 4, 1921, in Frankfort, Ky., she was the daughter of James Cornelius
O'Connor and Anna Foster O'Connor.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda and Karen, and their families, and
by two sisters, Mary Ellen Hazlett and Margaret Thompkins.
A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at St. Mary's
Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating.
A private burial will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in
Rockwood.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN
38148-0552.

Margaret "Peggy" Settlemire Crabtree of Knoxville died Wednesday, Jan. 14,
2004, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was a Methodist and former owner of Peggy's Fine Dining in Karns.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and David Settlemire, and
by a brother, Charles David Settlemire.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Crabtree of Knoxville; two daughters,
Rhonda Crabtree and Susan Crabtree, both of Knoxville; a brother, John Settlemire
and wife, Myrtle, of Louisville; a sister, Mary Rowland and husband, Robert,
of Louisville; and by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, in the Trinity Chapel of
Smith Mortuary in Maryville with the Rev. A.J. Rowland and the Rev. Mike
Parker officiating.
Burial will follow at Louisville Cemetery. Her nephews, David Settlemire,
Doug Settlemire, Dwayne Settlemire, Jonathan Settlemire, Rodney Nelson and Sam
Gardner will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the
East Chapel of Smith Mortuary in Maryville.
Robert Duncan, 53, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements, which were
incomplete at press time.
Joseph Michael Sawicki, 54, of Paducah, Ky., formerly of Oak Ridge, died
Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at his home.
Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at
