ADCOX, ROY DEAN - age 80, of Oak Ridge,
DUNCAN, BETTY JO - age 71, of the Dutch Valley Community, Clinton, TN,

ADCOX, ROY DEAN - age 80, a resident of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, April
18, 2004 at Briarcliff Health Care Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Adcox was born
August 30, 1923 in Coalfield, Tennessee. He was graduated with honors from
Coalfield High School in 1940. While at Coalfield High School he was a member of the
1st State Championship 6 man football team. Following High school he entered
the U.S. Army and served his country in WWII. He remained in the Army for 10
years and earned the rank of Master Sergeant. After his return home he founded
Jefferson Avenue Motors which later became Adcox Motors of Oak Ridge and
Oliver Springs. In addition, he was employed by Valley Pontiac of Oak Ridge for 30
years. He attended the Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Dean, as he was known, was
very proud of the accomplishments of his family, his friends, and people of the
Coalfield Community. He was fond of his heritage and shared stories of his
childhood with all that knew him. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lloyd
Adcox and Cecil Ruffner Adcox; by his wife, Helen Adcox; and by a brother,
James Adcox. Survivors: daughter, Linda Diaz of Atlanta, GA; son, Ralph Adcox of
Knoxville; grandchildren; Damien Diaz, Gabriel Diaz, Jennifer Adcox,
Stephanie Adcox, and Jordan Adcox; 1 great grandson; sister, Sandra Young and husband
Ralph of Harriman, brothers, Herbert Adcox and wife Jean of Chattanooga, Tommy
Adcox and wife Mary Katherine of Chattanooga, Ray Adcox and wife June of Oak
Ridge, The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 20, 2004 between the
hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at
8:00 pm. with Dr. Bill Edmonds ands Rev. James Wiseman officiating. Burial
and graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at 11:00 am. at
Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
DUNCAN, BETTY JO - age 71, of the Dutch Valley Community, Clinton, TN, passed
away Saturday, April 17, 2004. Visitation 6-8:00 pm Tuesday, April 20, 2004
at the Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral Service to follow in the Hatmaker Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Brenda Poole officiating. Interment 11:00 am Wednesday
April 21, 2004 at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, TN. Hatmaker Funeral
Home of Lake City in charge of arrangements.
