Eva Woods Adkins, 79, of Jacksboro, passed away March 23 at her home. She was a lifetime member of Norman Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Columbus Adkins; son, Harold Lee Adkins; daughters, Jean Ann Adkins and Juanita McGhee; parents, Frank and Annie Miller Woods; and brothers, Warren Woods and Holbert Miller. She was survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Chester and Judy Adkins of Huntsville, Clifton Adkins of Caryville; daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Everette Owens of Jacksboro, Norma Jean Rector of Hodgenville, Ky.; 19 granchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; special sister, Opal Adkins of Jacksboro; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services was held March 24 at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. James Adkins and Rev. James West officiating. Interment was March 25 at 12 noon in the Fairview Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Jeffers Massey, 90, passed away March 26 at the Huntsville Manor in Huntsville. She was the daughter of the late Dan and Syrinda Foster Jeffers. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlin Massey; three children, Magel Swisher, Vela Bell, and Harlin Massey, Jr.; one brother, Oliver Jeffers; three sisters, Ethel Jeffers, Ardilla Jeffers, Eva Murley, Goldie Belle Jeffers Smallwood, and Effie Jeffers. She was survived by one son, Basil Massey and wife Judith of Fairview; two sisters-in-law, Syrena Chambers of Robbins and Edna Mae McKeen of Mich., one son-in-law, Royal Swisher; nine grandchildren, Angela Peay, Louise Peay both of Mich., Jimmy Swisher and wife Connie of Ditney Trail, Lisa Reid and husband Chris, Aimee McNeil and husband Brett both of Utah, Lori Morgan and husband Bruce, Wendy Farr and husband Joe both of Colorado, Mitchell Speak and wife Debbie of Ore.; 29 great-grandchildren; five
great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held March 29 at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Ray Jeffers and Chaplin Clay Mulford officiating. Special music was provided by Nancy Murley and Buster and Alice Marlow. Burial followed in the Fairview Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Jerry Murley, John Murley, Herman Massey, Eddie Massey, Jimmy Swisher, and Roger Chambers. Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville was in charge of the arrangements.

Walter Carson - 62, of the Capital Hill Community passed away on March 24 at the family home. He was the son of the late Bailey and Orpha Carson. A member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Carson and Kenny Carson; one infant grand-daugher, Montana Carson. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Flossie Irene Griffith Carson of the Capital Hill Community; two sons, Walter Carson, Jr. and wife Christy, Kenny Carson and wife Teresa all of Ditney Trail; three sisters, Joyce Chambers and husband Dean of Ditney Trail, Sarah Lawson and husband Robert of Fairview, Patricia Ballard of Annadell; three brothers, William Carson and wife Midge of Oliver Springs, Obel Lee Carson and wife Adrice of Knoxville, Marshall Carson and wife Nancy of Ditney Trail; two granddaughters, Taylor Carson of Pine Knot, Ky., Sasha Carson of Ditney Trail; two grandsons, Brandon and Br!

Steve Hatfield officiating. Interment was in the Carson Family Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Helen Ford Chitwood - 93, of Powell, passed away March 26, 2005 at the Windwood Health and Rehab, Clinton. She was a member of Straight Fork Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ike Chitwood; parents, Stephen and Ella Trammell Ford; son, JP Chitwood; brothers, Jack, Richard and James Ford; sisters, Lucille Rhodes and Bessie Douglas; grandson, David Chitwood. She was survived by daughters and son-in-law, Wanda and Jerry Gaddis of Powell, June and Charlie Cox of LaFollette; brother, Henry Ford of LaFollette; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Meredith; grandchildren, Robin Barnhill, Scott and Brian Yonce, Greg and Debbie Kirby, Jerry and Paulette Chitwood, Peggy and Ralph Lawson, Melinda and Ken Gibson; 15 great great grandchildren; 8 great great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Martin Wilson with Rev. Tom Owens and Rev. Asbury Byrd officiating. I!

Herbert Clark Triplett - 76, of Helenwood, passed away March 24 at his home. He was the son of the late Thomas and Stella Whitt Triplett. He was plant manager for Denim Processing, a vocational school teacher, and a dispatcher for the Scott County Sheriff's Department. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. He was also an officer for the Veteran's affairs for the community and earned many medals and honors while serving his country. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one infant son, Thomas Triplett; three brothers, Estle Triplett, CO Triplett, and Bill Triplett; two sisters, Frankie Triplett and Jean Lloyd. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Loretta M. Triplett; four children, Robert Triplett and wife Charlie of Newman, Ill., Janet Keeton of Helenwood, Teresa Young and husband Steve of Oneida, and Richard Triplett of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Nicole Liffick, Aaron Triplett, Sara Keeton, Rikki Keeton, Katie Brawner, M!

Johnny Harold Braden - 67, of Monticello, Ky., formerly of Oneida, passed away March 23 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was the son of the late Lon and Marvel Doyle Braden. He was a retired Electrical Contractor specializing in Telecommunications. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Johnny was a member of The Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three step-children, Dwight, Kermit, and Terry Rex Burke; two brothers, Clyde and Homer Braden; two sisters, Opal Bains Boyatt and Ruby Owen. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Anderson Braden; sister, Ruth Neal Allen of Oneida; step-children, Sandra Anderson, Sharon Shadoan, Thomas, Frank, and John David Burke; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 27 at 1 p.m. at Hoyt G. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in Monticello with Bro. Dewey Burke officiating. Graveside services followed at !
