Marian Leigh Baxter, of Clinton, died April 17, 2005, from complications of
metastatic colon cancer. According to her family, Mrs. Baxter plans to be
greeted on the other side by her dog Duck; her grandparents, Rachel Macres and
Frances and Tracy Baxter; and all her relatives and friends who have passed
before. She leaves behind her husband, Donovan Johnson; her children, Ella Hulsey,
Jenna Hulsey, Stone Johnson and Colleen Hulsey; her parents, John and Carol
Baxter; two brothers, John T. "Bo" Baxter Jr. and his wife, Kelly, and Gregory
Baxter; his grandparents, James and Mearl Macres; co-parents Michael and Ana
Hulsey; and a fabulous family network of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and
close friends. Mrs. Baxter's family said she would like to personally request two
favors from each of you reading this obituary. The first is to get checked
early for colon cancer, no matter your age, and especially if you have symptoms
(talk to your doctor or check the Internet). The other favor she asks is for
you to do at least one good deed in the next year, anonymously, for someone you
do not know. In lieu of flowers, please donate money, time, and talent to the
Marian Baxter Foundation, in care of the Oak Ridge Federal Credit Union, 112
Administration Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. This fund is being established to
support the development of Mrs. Baxter's dream: "Little Whisperers/Good Grief"
pet therapy program, in its conceptual infancy when she died. A reception
celebrating her life is planned for 5 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at the Norris
Commons in Norris. Her family said everyone who has been touched by Marian's
presence on this earth is invited. Cremation Options Inc. in Knoxville in
charge of arrangements.

Warren Stephen Crum, 82, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. The son of Stephen A. Crum and Emma E.
Baker Crum, he was born July 17, 1922, in Shelbyville, Ill. He had lived in
Oliver Springs since 1975. Mr. Crum worked at the Cape Kennedy Space Center for
eight years. He worked for Union Carbide Nuclear Division in Oak Ridge until
his final retirement in 1986. He was also a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Air
Force and served in both World War II and the Korean War. While serving his
country, he received medals, ribbons and citations for distinguished service to his
country, including 51 combat missions air offenses in Europe, an Air Medal
with three oak leaf clusters, the Presidential Unit Citation with one bronze oak
leaf, the European African Middle Eastern Medal with two Bronze Stars, the
World War II Victory Medal, an AAF Aircrew Member Badge, and a Small Arms Expert
Marksmanship Ribbon for both pistol and carbine marksmanship. In addition to
his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Ernest
Crum, Cecil Crum, Homer Crum, and Edna Kingston. Mr. Crum is survived by his
wife of 60 years, Dorothy Runkel Crum; four daughters, Sharon Sexton and husband,
Hershel, of Ft. Myers, Fla., Cheryl Kwasigroch of New Kent, Va., Darlene
Collinge and husband, Allen, of Maryville, and Pamela Kramer of Clinton; seven
grandchildren, Stephen Sexton, Darrell Sexton, Kennedy Kwasigroch Jr., Tiffany
Kwasigroch, Tierye W. Crumley, Jennifer L. Kramer and Micah A. Kramer; and by
nine great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends. The funeral will
be at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in
Oliver Springs. A graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday,
April 22, 2005, at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 21, at the
funeral home.

Sue Crump Frizzell, 82, of Bowman, Ga., and formerly of Oak Ridge, died
Monday, April 18, 2005, in Anderson, S.C. She was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Franklin
County, Ga., the daughter of Gordon and Clara Berryman Hill. In 1943, she
married Baxter O. Crump and settled in Oak Ridge. Mr. Crump worked as a machinist
at the Y-12 Plant for 25 years, until his death in 1976.
Mrs. Crump was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She loved working in her
yard and had some of the prettiest flowers and plants in her South Seneca Road
neighborhood. In 1977, she married Duke Frizzell, who worked as a welding
inspector at X-10. They traveled extensively throughout the country in their motor
home, and after his retirement spent their winters in Florida. Mr. Frizzell
died in 1993. She returned to Bowman, Ga., about five years ago to be near her
family and friends. She is survived by her children, Eddie Crump of Anderson,
S.C., and Barbara Crump and her husband, Mark Williams, of Clinton; her
siblings, Reba Holcomb and Carlos Hill of Anderson, S.C., and Ruby Lashley and
husband, Gene, and Paul Hill and wife, Nina, all of Cocoa, Fla.; her grandchildren,
Sonya Finlay and Theresa Crighton; her great-grandchildren, Hunter Finlay and
Ali Crighton; and her nieces, Betty Jo Maxwell and Elizabeth Vaughn of Bowman,
Ga. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at
Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of
contributions to any hospice organization. Weatherford Mortuary in charge of

A memorial service to honor to the life of Robert L. Lewis Jr., 8, of Oak
Ridge, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church,
131 W. Gettysburg Ave., behind Woodland Elementary School.
Howard Scott Stakes, 46, of Oak Ridge, died of a heart attack Sunday, April
17, 2005, at his new home in Glouster, Ohio. Mr. Stakes had been a resident of
Oak Ridge for 40 years. He graduated as the valedictorian of State Technical
Community College in 1986. He had been an engineering technician in the
Instrumentation and Controls Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he had
worked for 10 years. He had recently moved to Glouster, where he was working
for Frog Ranch foods doing systems automation. According to his family, Scott
loved the outdoors, including hiking, diving and gardening. He had a tremendous
sense of humor and left many friends behind. He was preceded in death by his
mother and father, Phyllis Stakes and Hollis Stakes; his aunt, Hope Wheeler;
his grandmother, Wavel York; his grandfather, Ted Ellis; and his
grandfather-in-law, Arthur York, all of Oak Ridge. He was also preceded in death by his
uncle, Ted Ellis, of Richland, Wash. Mr. Stakes is survived by his brother and
sister-in-law, Randy and Loretta Bruner of Baltimore, Md.; his sister, Michelle
Turpin of Oak Ridge; his aunt, Brenda Joyner of Oak Ridge; his grandmother and
step-grandfather, Lura and Eddie Prewett of Oak Ridge; and his cousins, Kelly
Joyner of Orlando, Fla., and David Wheeler of Oak Ridge. A private memorial to
honor Scott's life will be held May 7, 2005. Donations in lieu of flowers may
be sent to Michelle Turpin, 118 Dug Ridge Road, Kingston, TN 37763.

Hershel Benjamin Stevens, 87, of Karns community, died Monday, April 18,
2005, at Fort Sanders Specialty Select Hospital. Mr. Stevens was a member of Grace
Baptist Church, which he had attended since 1953. He retired from the Y-12
Plant in 1984 after 40 years of working at the Oak Ridge site. Prior to his
employment in Oak Ridge, he was employed as a teenager on the Norris Dam
construction site. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Anne Stevens, and
daughter, Bennie Lou Stevens Isbell. Mr. Stevens is survived by his daughters
and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Ramon Lee, Eugene "Bud" Isbell, Barbara and Ted
Lankford, and Marye Ellen and Taylor Thomas; his grandchildren, Ramon Lee Jr.,
Bryan Lee, Steven Lee, Rachel Lee Piotrowski, Lisa Isbell Castleman, Marye Lou
Isbell Hill, Barbie Stair Bigelow, Stephanie Stair Lanier, Marye Lorelle
Thomas and Dwaine Benjamin Thomas; her brother, Clayton Stephens; a niece, Delores
Stevens; a nephew, Roy Luallen; and by 14 great-grandchildren and many other
nieces and nephews. The family requests that any memorials, in lieu of
flowers, be in the form of donations in memory of H.B. Stevens to Knox Area Rescue
Ministries, 418 North Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917, or Morning Song Ministry,
(937) 383-0239. A celebration of Mr. Stevens' life and burial will be held at
11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2005, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lake City. Ed
Valentine of Grace Baptist Church will officiate. His grandsons and
grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. The family will
receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Weaver Funeral Home, 5815
Western Ave., in Knoxville.

Jerry Lynn Byrge, 52, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at
the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville. Sharp Funeral Home in
Oliver Springs is in charge of the arrangements, which were incomplete at
press time.
