Imogene Meade Carden, 75, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Oliver Springs,
Joey Dean Smith, 40, of Crossville, formerly of Oliver Springs,
Ollie Kelly, of Oak Ridge,
Imogene Meade Carden, 75, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Oliver Springs, died
Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. The daughter
of James Harrison Meade and Mary Galbraith Meade, she was born May 19, 1929, in
Oliver Springs. She was a 40-year resident of the Sugar Grove Valley
community of Roane County, living in Lafollette for five years and in Oak Ridge for
the past two. She was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church; however, she
attended several area Baptist churches. She was also a member of the Order of
Eastern Star, Oliver Springs Chapter, Dyllis Chapter and most recently the Caryville
Chapter. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carden was
preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lee Carden, and two sisters, Helen Greer
and Jackie Bailey. She is survived by her two daughters, Faye Butturini and
husband, Charles, of Oakdale, and Linda Childs and husband, Phillip, of
Clinton; four sons, Gerald Lee Carden Jr. and wife, Diane, of Oliver Springs, Jim
Carden and wife, Janice, of Petros, Van Carden and wife, Tammy, of Harriman, and
John Carden of Oliver Springs; sister, Faye Goodman of Cody, Wyo.; 13
grandchildren, Jan, Jason, Tammy, Ricky, Jerree, Gerald, Jeremy, Jennifer, Michael,
Jessica, Devin, Maggie and Carrie; 11 great-grandchildren; and by special
friend, Bill Clowers of Oliver Springs. The funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24,
2005, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. John
Hunley officiating. A graveside service and burial followed at Oliver Springs
Cemetery.
Joey Dean Smith, 40, of Crossville, formerly of Oliver Springs, died Friday,
April 22, 2005, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville,
from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. The son of James Allen Smith
and Betty Catron Brown, he was born Dec. 30, 1964, in Oak Ridge, and had lived
in Crossville since 1998. Motorcycles and cars were among his many hobbies. He
was preceded in death by his father, James Allen Smith; his stepfather,
Charles Brown; and his nephew, Clayton Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his mother,
Betty Catron Brown of Crossville; his son, Joseph Smith of Crossville; his
brother, James Allen Smith Jr. and wife, Kim, of Oliver Springs; his sister,
Cindi Reece of Knoxville; his stepmother, Laura Smith of Naples, Fla.; his nieces,
Alicia Rice and Ashley Bray; and his great-nephews, Drake and Dalton Ellis.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, in the chapel of Sharp
Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Daniel Flatford officiating. A
graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Anderson
Memorial Gardens in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Monday at the funeral home.
Ollie Kelly, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at her home.
Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements, which were incomplete at press
time.
