Roberta Williams DeMelas, 57, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday Oct. 19,
2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs. DeMelas was born July 18,
1948, in Louisa, Ky. She was a legal secretary with the Cabell County Court in
Huntington, W.Va. She was a member of the Tabor Creek Baptist Church in Ft.
Gay, W.Va. She enjoyed photography, poetry, and bird watching and especially
enjoyed her cats Teddy, Cindy, Sugar, Peete, and Blackie. She was preceded in
death by her father, Roy Winston Williams, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Lambert.
Mrs. DeMelas is survived by her husband, John P. DeMelas; mother, Mary
Endicot Frasher; brothers Roy Michael Williams and wife Sherry, and Barry Alan
Williams; sisters, Thelma Jean Wellman and husband Glen, Elizabeth Ann Lambert,
Linda Sue Stark and husband Mark, Ruth Marilyn McCoy and husband Danny, Romona
Hatfield and husband Robert; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend,
Theresa Moore. Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at 2 p.m. at
the Tabor Creek Baptist Church in Ft. Gay, W.Va. with the Rev. Denny Brown
officiating. Young Funeral Home 210 W. Main St. Louisa, Ky., is in charge of
arrangements in West Virginia. An online register book is available at

Barbara C. Elliott, 74, a resident of Harriman, passed away suddenly Monday,
Oct. 24, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born Dec.
16, 1930, in Roanoke, Va., moving to Knoxville in August 1949. Mrs. Elliott
was a member of Lawnville Road Church of Christ in Kingston. She graduated from
Knoxville General Hospital School of Nursing in June 1954, which was the last
graduating class from General Hospital. She worked as a nurse for 41 years,
retiring from the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge in 1995 with 25 years
of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest R. Cornett and
Louise P. Pattisall Cornett. Survivors include her husband, William H. Elliott
Sr. of Harriman; sons, William H. Elliott Jr. and wife, Debbie of Knoxville, and
Paul Elliott and wife, Kathy of Oliver Springs; daughter, Lynda Elliott of
Harriman; brothers, Charles E. Cornett and wife, Earlene of Denton, Texas, Bill
Cornett and wife, Vicki of Roanoke, Va., and Bob Cornett and wife, Jeanie of
Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Travis Elliott and wife, Tahirah of Waterloo,
Iowa, Lindsay Elliott of Knoxville, Tyler Elliott and wife, Lisa of Knoxville,
Steven Elliott of Knoxville, Christopher Elliott of Indiana, Wayne Elliott of
Knoxville, Paul Rip Elliott of Oliver Springs, Janiece Elliott of Oliver Springs;
uncle, Haynes Elliott of Elizabethton; special niece, Beth Vann; special
nephews, Chuck Cornett and Butch Walker. The family will receive friends from 6 to
8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at the Lawnville Road Church of Christ in
Kingston with memorial service beginning at 8 p.m. with Travis Elliott officiating.
Mrs. Elliott worked as a registered nurse for about 41 years. Since she was
the kind of person who wanted to help others, even in her death, she was an
organ donor. She was also one of the most practical and least extravagant people
ever. Therefore in lieu of flowers, the family ask memorials be made to the
American Diabetes Association, 900 E. Hill Avenue, Suite 240, Knoxville, TN

all the arrangements.

William D. Gude, 91, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at NHC
HealthCare Center. He was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Baltimore, Md., the son of William
D. and Mary Cecilia Mullikin Gude. Mr. Gude retired from the Oak Ridge National
Laboratory where he was a biologist. He was a veteran of World War II,
serving with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Gude had worked as a volunteer with the Recording for the Blind and
Dyslexic and was a member of the East Tennessee Riding Club. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lillian Stebbins Gude; and
daughters, Patricia Perkins and Katie Dripps. He is survived by six
grandchildren: Lisa Simmons of Oak Ridge, Chris Perkins and wife Alicia of Roseville,
Calif., Kevin Perkins and wife Sylvia of Maryville, Sacha Hankey of Lenoir City,
Shannon Butler and husband Junior of Washington, and Shilo Dripps of Oliver
Springs; and 15 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Friday, Oct. 28,
2005, at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert May
officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Veteran's United Honor Guard. The
family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the
American Cancer Society. Weatherford Mortuary is handling the arrangements. An

James Edward Lynch, 64, of Smyrna, died on Oct. 24, 2005, at Tennessee State
Veterans Home in Murfreesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents,
William James and Mary Earlene Lynch. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy
Smith Lynch. He is the father of Sherry Nicolai of Candler, N.C., and Angela
Gregg (Kendall) of Murfreesboro; grandfather of Bethany Grace Gregg of
Murfeesboro; brother of William Lynch (Linda) of Albany, Ga., and Brenda France (David)
of Galway, N.Y. He was a former resident of Oak Ridge, Knoxville and
Crossville, and retired from the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Navy and a member of Lantana Road Baptist Church. The family will receive
friends at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 4350
Northwest Broad St., Murfreesboro, Tenn., until the time of the memorial
service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Glen Riddle officiating.

Patricia Ann Eckerman, 63, of Oak Ridge, died at Methodist Medical Center of
Oak Ridge on Oct. 25, 2005. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the
arrangements, which were incomplete at press time.
