Hi All!

I am new to the list and am excited to connect with any Smith County relatives. I live in Maine and am the ggggranddaughter of James Mattison Cox of Smith County, TN and his wife, Mary Mink. I am also the ggggranddaughter of Charlotte Elizabeth Powell, daughter of James and Sarah Powell. The only information I have been able to find is through the WONDERFUL Smith Co. Gen Web. I love that site! I know that Joy King is also researching that line; however, my attempts to contact her have been unsuccessful. I am not at my home computer, so all of my genealogical info isn't with me.

My grandmother, born Dorothy Mai Woodroof, was adopted at the age of 9 and her named changed to Alice Alden Jones. These connections are through her birth maternal line (Clara Mai Cox, daughter of Hartwell Cox and Tabitha Harrison Cox). My grandmother and I had a special relationship (she died in 1990) and researching her biological family makes me feel closer to her.
