Mrs. Davenport’s Rites Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Isaac Davenport, 79, of Murfreesboro, were held
Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Woodbury Road Baptist Church there
with burial in Coleman cemetery. Mrs. Davenport died in a Murfreesboro
hospital Friday. Mrs. Davenport was the mother of Coleman Davenport of
McMinnville.

O’Brian, Harry J.

H. J. O’Brian Dies Tuesday
Harry J. O’Brian, retired Construction worker, died at his home at Mt. Leo
Tuesday morning at 12:30 o’clock. Mr. Brian suffered a heart attack two
weeks ago. He was 59. Funeral rites were held Thursday afternoon at 2
o’clock at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. J. E. Wolven,
minister of Mt. Leo Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Mt. View
cemetery. A native of Dugland, Va., Mr. O’Brian was born February 28,
1893. He was a son of Joseph O’Brian and Isabel Jassauch O’Brian and he was
married to Miss Grace Sears. She survives. Mr. O’Brian had been a
resident of Tennessee for a quarter of a century and had lived in Warren
county for ten years. He moved to McMinnville six years ago. He was a
member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by
one sister, Mrs. Katherine Anne Moore, Baltimore, two nieces and one
nephew. Arrangements by Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Rites Wednesday For John Blair
Funeral services for John Wiley Blair, 45, were conducted Wednesday morning
at 10:30 o’clock at Woods Church of Christ. Allen Phy, minister of Central
Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Grizzell cemetery. Mr.
Blair, who for several years had made his home in McMinnville with his
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. D. Melton, died at the home of a brother,
Alfred Blair on Morrison Road Monday evening at 9:30 o’clock. He had been
in failing health for several months. Born in Cannon county, April 28,
1906, Mr. Blair was a son of George Washington Blair and Ada Manus Blair.
He was unmarried. Mr. Blair was a member of the Church of Christ. In
addition to his brother, at whose home he died, he is survived by three
other brothers, Floyd Blair, Detroit, Mich., Clyde Blair, Gassaway, and
Hilder Blair, McMinnville; two sisters, Mrs. Grundy Webb, McMinnville, and
Mrs. Walter Aschbacher, Tullahoma. Arrangements were by the High Funeral Home.

Rockliff Community— Mrs. Will Nunley received word last week of the death
of her sister, Mrs. Josie Weatherington of Arkansas, Mrs. Weatherington
and two other sisters visited Mrs. Mrs. Nunley a few weeks ago.

Benton Wayne Davis Bain, 14-months-old son of Benton Thomas Womack and Mrs
Harrie Davis Bain, died at a local hospital March 5 at 1:30 a.m. The child
had been ill a week.

Scott, Clarence
Clarence Deckard Scott, 45-year old native of Warren county, and resident
of Rt. 6, McMinnville, died of a lingering illness, Friday, Nov. 6, at
10:15 a.m. at Warren county General Hospital. A former car salesman, he was
a son of Dock Scott and the late Iva Fults Scott. Surviving are his
father. Dock Scott, of McMinnville; three brothers, Eugene Scott, Wesley
Scott, and Henry Scott, all of McMinnville; four sisters, Mrs. Etna Bates,
Mrs. George Muncey, Jr., Mrs. Louise Russell, all of whom are from
McMinnville, and Mrs. Christine Fults, Mentor, Ohio; and one niece, Mrs.
Adell Gaither, of McMinnville. Funeral services were scheduled for Sunday,
Nov. 8, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, with Bro. J.R. Boren and
John W. High officiating, and burial to follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery.
High’s Inc., was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Northcutt
Mrs. Mary Emma Northcutt, 82-year old widow of Tom Watt Northcutt, of Route
3, McMinnville, died of a lingering illness at Warren county General
Hospital Friday. Anative of Warren county, Mrs. Northcutt was a daughter
of the late William and Hester McBride Allison. She was a Methodist. She is
survived by eight nephews and seven nieces. Funeral services were conducted
by John W. High at Mt. Zion Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, burial
following in the cemetery there. High’s inc., was in charge of arrangements.

Elda Cleveland McBride, 72, year-old retired employee of the
Burroughs-Ross-Colville Company, succumbed to a lingering illness Thursday
at Warren County General Hospitalat 11 a.m. A resident of 101 Waggoner
Street, McMinnville, he was married to the former Carrie Hobbs who
survives. A native of this county, Mr. McBride was a son of the late
Archie Lee and Christine Fults McBride. Besides his wife, he is survived by
four sons, Howard Eugene McBride, McMinncille; Everett, Oak Ridge; Charles
Edward, U. S. Army in Lousiana and Robert of the U.S. Army in Oregon; two
daughters, Mrs. Lillie (J.D.) Nunley and Mrs. James Taylor, both of this
city; five brothers, Dorsie and Willard McBride, both of Painesville, Ohio;
Ernest, Dave and Jesse Lee, all of McMinnville; four sisters, Mrs. Edith
Smith and Mrs. Flossie Doak, McMinnville; Mrs. Nannie Spicucza, St. Louis,
Ill., and Mrs. Inez Basham, Grand Rapids, Mich., 11grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. With Thomas Milstead and John W. High officiating,
final rites were held in High’s Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, interment being
in Mt. Zion cemetery. High’s, Inc., was in charge of the arrangements.

McBride, Elijah Willard

EliJah Willard McBride, 64-year old resident of 236 Old Morrison Road, died
of a lingering illness in Baptist Hospital, Nashville, at 3:23 p.m. Sunday.
The Warren county native was a veteran of World War II and had been an
employee of the Uniroyal Tire co. Painesville, Ohiol he was a son of the
late Arch and Kite Fults McBride. Survivors include three sons and four
daughters, Nolan McBride; Joe and Billy McBride; Marie Neer, Linda
Zembower, all of Painesville; Sandy and Lisa McBride, both of McMinnville;
four brothers and three sisters, Dorssie McBride, Painesville; Jessie Lee
McBride, Dave McBride, Earnest McBride, Edith Smith, Inez Basham, all of
McMinnville, and Nannie Spicuzza, of illinois. John W. High conducted
funeral services in High’s Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Military ceremonies
were conducted in Mt. Zion cemetery. High’s Inc., was in charge of
arrangements.
