My name is Linda Moss Mines and I am desperately searching for my
great-grandmother, Julia Ann Burden [born 1857?]. In the 1860 Van Buren
County census, she is living with the M. G. Haston [35] and family: Rachel,
29, David L., 14; William R., 10; Mary J., 5; and J. Burden, 4.
According to my grandfather, Ernest Jack Moss [1898-1980], his mother was
born out-of-wedlock and was raised by a Haston family. He also mentioned a
favorite uncle, Turner Burden, who lived in the Hickory Valley region of
White County, Tennessee. I have finally succeeded in finding his mother
in the 1860 census data noted, but I am interesting in learning more about
this family. I'm also interested in determining if this family connects in
some way with the Daniel Haston family from Van Buren County since my
husband is a descendant of that family via the daughter, Catherine Haston,
who married John Austin.
Is anyone familiar with the name M. G. Haston and wife, Rachel? I will be
glad to share all my information.
