Biles, Marcus Marvin

Retired longtime McMinnville Police Department radio dispatcher Marcus
Marvin Biles, 79yearold resident of 101 Highrise Apartments here, died of
an extended illness in Cookeville General Hospital at 7 a.m. Tuesday. The
Warren County native was a member of the Central Church of Christ and was
married to the former Leta Chambers who survives. He was a son of the late
Amos and Lucinda Lynn Biles. During his many years as dispatcher, Mr.
Biles was credited with having a highly retentive memory, familiar
with every remote "pig trail" in the county and the residence of
virtually every resident of Warren county. In addition to his wife he is
survived by a daughter and grandson, Mrs. Sarah Young and David Young, both
of McMinnville. John W. High and Lindell Doty will conduct last rites
in High's Chapel at 3 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Mt. View
Cemetery. High's Inc., is in
charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ollie Lockhart Mathenia, 75yearold resident of Star Route Coalmont,
died of a three week illness in Emerald Hodgeson Hospital in Sewanee at
4:30 a.m. Saturday. the Grundy County native was a member of the Baptist
Church and a daughter of the late Arch and Ella Rogers Hobbs. She
was first married to Omar Mills who died in 1946 and later to Dell
Mathenia who survives. In addition to her husband she is survived by
four daughters, Orene Newman of Colorado, Oma Lee Kline of New Mexico,
Othelia Lorance of Florida and Ozell Laserence of California; five
brothers and a sister, Norton and Walter Hobbs of Altamont, Carlos Hobbs
of Whitwell, Homer and Hubert Hobbs of McMinnville and Mrs. Octa Uselton
of Whitwell. Funeral services will be held in High's Chapel at 10 a.m.
Tuesday. Interment will be in Mt. Zion cemetery, the Rev. Roger Hobbs the
officiant. High's Inc., is in charge of arrangements.

Earl Dunlap
Southern Standard April 29, 1981
Eddie Earl Dunlap, 62yearold resident of Route 11,died of an extended
illness in Warren County General hospital at 12:15 a.m. Monday. He was a
self employed farmer, taxicab and school bus driver and a veteran of world
War II. A member of the Bybee Chapel Methodist Church, he was first married
to the former Iduna Clark who preceded him in death in 1962 and later to
the former Beulah Hill who survives. He was a son of the late R.L. and
Zanie Green Dunlap. In addition to his wife he is survived by three
stepdaughters Miss Barbara Bess, Mrs. Linda Bost, both of McMinnville, and
Mrs. Jo Ann Lynn of Viola; two brothers and a sister, Evertt Lee and W.T.
Dunlap of Rock Island and Mrs. J.B. (Byars) Glenn of McMinnville, as well
as two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joseph D. Smith and
John W. High conducted the last rites in High's Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday
with full military rites at graveside in Liberty Cemetery by VFW post
5064 and American Legion post 173. High's Inc., was in charge of the
arrangements.

Claude B. Lance, 80yearold retired Nashville streetcar motorman and bus
driver, died of an extended illness in Miller's Clinic there at 11:30 p.m.
Thursday. The Cannon County native was a member of the Church of Christ
and a son of the late Sam and Sarah Janie Winnett Lance. He was married
to the former Sallie Tucker and other survivors include a son and a
daughter, Lonnie Lance and Mrs. Luville Phillips of Nashville; three
brothers, Lee and A.T. Lance of Woodbury, Selmer Lance of Knoxville; a
sister, Mrs. H.B. (Brownie) Smith, of Woodbury. Funeral services were held
at 11 a.m. Saturday in Eastland Funeral Home Chapel in Nashville. Interment
was in Riverside Cemetery at Woodbury. The information courtesy of

Mrs. Linnie Lee Vickers, 80yearold resident of Route 3 Morrison, succumbed
to a one day illness in Warren County General Hospital at 8 p.m. Sunday. a
native of Grundy County and member of the Church of Christ, on Christmas day
1920 she was wed to James Elmer Vickers. She was a daughter of the late
Lawson H. and Ann Lee Stotts Fults. In addition to her husband she is
survived by four sons and four daughters, James Marshall Vickers of
McMinnville; Jackson B. Vickers of the Merry Oaks community, Jessie Daniel
Vickers of Route 1 Morrison, Mrs. Pauline Barnes of Cookville, Mrs. Earline
Holt of Hendersonville, Mrs. Josephine Herrin and Mrs. Irene Lynn of
Morrison, 19 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. A son Franklin D.
Vickers preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1976. Oscar Groves and John W. High
conducted funeral services in High's Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Entombment was
in Mt.Zion Cemetery. High's Inc., was in charge of arrangements.

Alf Taylor Lance, 78yearold resident of Leoni Community, died of a short
illness in Stones River Hospital, Woodbury, Monday. The Cannon County
native was an educator who retired after 47 years of teaching and was a
member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Taylor was a son of the late Sam and
Sarah Tammie Winnett Lance and was married to the former Nellie Brown
Surlock who preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.
Nadine Shirley of Knoxville; two brothers and a sister, Selmer Lance of
Knoxville, Lee Lance and Mrs. H.B. (Brownie) Smith of Cannon county; three
grandchildren, Mrs. Shirley Melton of Decatur, Ala.; Mrs. Paula Seymore of
Memphis; William K. Shirley of Nashville and a great-grandchild, Ashley
Melton. Odell Powell will conduct
funeral rites in the Leoni Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment
will be in the Leoni Cemetery. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of

Mrs. Jean Allen Myers, 78-year-old resident of Route 6 McMinnville,
succumbed to an extended illness in River Park Hospital at 3:45 p.m.
Wednesday. The Miles, Iowa native was married July 12, 1934 to Andrew
Campbell Myers who preceded her in death Dec. 2, 1973. The retired
schoolteacher was a daughter of the late Charles ad Clara Allen. She was a
member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a son and two daughters,
Andy Myers of Route 6; Mrs. Jan Meitus of Nashville and Mrs. John Rowell of
the Panama Canal Zone; a sister, Nera Allen of Portland, Ore. And seven
grandchildren. The body is in state at High's Parlors. George Kesler will
conduct funeral services in High's Chapel at 10 a.m Saturday. Interment
will be in Riverside cemetery. High Funeral Home is in charge of the
arrangements.

Thomas Martin (Tom) Roach, 75yearold Route 6 farmer and nurseryman, died
|unexpectedly in River Park Hospital at 11 p.m. Sunday. The Warren County
|native was married Oct. 23, 1937 to the former Stella Woodlee and was a
son |of the late Elisha and Carrie Myers Roach. In addition to his wife he
is |survived by a daughter, Miss Betty Roach; two brothers, Harley and
Marvin |Roach, all of McMinnville, and two sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Talley of
|McMinnville and Mrs. Willie Gupton of Nashville. John W. High conducted
|funeral rites in High's Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Entombment was in
|Armstrong Cemetery. High's Inc., was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anna Velma Womack, 72-year-old resident of the Forest Mills community
in Coffee county, died unexpectedly in River Park Hospital at 6:30 a.m.
Wednesday. The Warren County native was a daughter of the late George and
Florence Jones Schrock and a member of the Baptist Church. She was first
married to Alva Jones who died Aug. 18, 1972 and later to Clarence C.
Womack. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Royce and
Lane Jones of McMinnville and Manchester respectively; four daughters, Mrs.
H. T. Pelham of McMinncville; Mrs. Burl Johnson of Walling, Mrs. Gene West
and Mrs. Jerry Lynn of Manchester; a stepson and stepdaughter, William F.
Womack of Kingston and Mrs. James Flower of Smyrna; a brother and sister,
Gains Schrock and Mrs. Ethel Bishop, both of Chattanooga; 19 grandchildren
and 12 great-grandchildren. A.B. Ray and R.H. Cope are to conduct funeral
services in McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday with interment
in Webb cemetery. McMinnville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Comer Myersm 58-year-old Beersheba Springs timberman and nurseryman,
succumbed to a nine month illness in Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville,
Wednesday afternoon. A member of Cumberland Baptist Chapel at Beersheba
Springs, Mr. Myers was a native of Grundy county and married to the former
Betty Childers. He was a son of the late Henry and Clara Northcutt Myers.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Larry Myers; a stepson,
Ray Cladwell, both of Beersheba; two daughters and a stepdaughter, Landa
Davis of Clarksville, Sherry Arnold of Route 8 McMinnville and Deborah
Brady of Altamont; two sisters and five brothers, Olivia Myers of
Beersheba, Clemma Smith of McMinnville, Cheatum Myers of Beersheba, Cimble
Myers of Altamont, Clifton, Chester and Cerbert Myers, all of McMinnville;
five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Marshall Sloane and Bob
Preston will conduct last rites in the church of his membership at 2 p.m.
Saturday. Interment will be in Altamont Cemetery. Love-Cantrell Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements.

Southern Standard McMinnville,TN Jun 16, 1982
Eural Roy Biles, 70-year-old retired resident of 212 Oriole St., was taken
suddenly ill Saturday and pronounced dead at the Warren County General
Hospital emergency room at 9 a.m. The Warren County native was a member of
the Church of Christ and a son of the late Jim and Bessie Brown. His wife,
the former Leola Ramsey, preceded him in death Jan. 2, 1968. Survivors
include two daughters, Betty Biles of McMinnville and Sarah Joyner, three
grandsons and four great grandchildren, and aunt and an uncle. James Smith
and George King will conduct last rites in High's Chapel at 3 p.m.
Thursday, interment following in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be
from 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. High Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.

Grundy County native John Fults, died unexpectedly at his Chattanooga
residence Wednesday evening. He was 91 years of age. Mr. Fults was a son of
the late John W. and Loucreatia Campbell Fults. Survivors include three
sisters, Mrs. Deamie Weesner of McMinnville, Mrs. Lydia Northcutt of
Altamont and Mrs. Hettie Shrim of Coalmont as well as numerous nieces and
nephews. Elder Chester Fults conducted funeral services in High's Chapel
at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery. High's, Inc., was
in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ola Irene Gribble, 80-year-old usual resident of Route 2, succumbed to
an extended illness in McMinnville Health Care Center at 3:10 a.m.
Thursday. A member of the Church of Christ and native of Coffee county,
she was the wife of Logan Gribble who preceded her in death Aug. 10,
1966. She was a daughter of the late G.H. and Daisy Jane Charles
Meadows. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dot Lynn and Mrs. Nancy
Watts of McMinnville; two brothers and two sisters, G.H. Meadows, Jr. of
Johnson City; Everette Meadows of Rome, Ga.; Mrs Betty Jo Womack and Mrs.
Lucille Priest, both of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Zanda and Alan
Lynn and Susan Burns and Jimmy Watts, and several nieces and
nephews. Ernest Laws will conduct funeral services in High's Chapel at 2
p.m. Friday. High's Inc., is in charge of the arrangements.

Southern Standard McMinnville,TN Aug 25, 1982
Mrs. Hassie M. Newby, 94-year-old resident of the McMinnville Health Care
Center, died of an extended illness there at 5p.m. Tuesday. The Cannon
county native was a daughter of the late Harris and Josie Young Newby and
was a member of the Blue Hill Presbyterian Church. Two nieces and two
nephews survive, Mrs. Leota Gentry, Mrs. Estella Winnett, William Newby,
all of Centertown and Paul Newby of McMinnville. The body is in state at
McMinnville Funeral Home from noon to 10 p.m. today, and 8 a.m. to time for
services Thursday. The Revs. Ernest Cashdollar and Arnet Creasy will
conduct last rites in McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Interment will be in Centertown Cemetery. McMinnville Funeral Home is in
charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Georgia Mae Northcutt, 73-year-old resident of Route 10 McMinnville,
succumbed to a lingering illness in River Park Hospital at 3:30
a.m. Tuesday. A native of this county and member of this county and
member of the Church of Christ, she was the widow of Thurman Lee Northcutt
who preceded her in death March 27, 1979. She was a daughter of the late
Alfred and Mary Jane Shirley Reynolds. Survivors include three sons and
three daughters, James of Route 10, Bobby and William Northcutt of Route 1
Morrison; Mrs. Dorothy Brown and Mrs. Brenda Smoot of Morrison and Mrs.
Hazel Starkey of McMinnville; two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Young of Manchester
and Mrs. John Wiser of this city; a half brother and sister-in-law, Grady
Reynolds of Murfreesboro and Mrs. Nora Dillehay of McMinnville, 10
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Waymon Summers and Ernest
Laws will conduct last rites in High's Chapel at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Interment will be in Jacksboro Cemetery. High's Inc., is in charge of
arrangements.

Mrs. Alkie Scott Fults, 85-year-old resident of Route 1 Morrison, died of
and extended illness in Warren county General Hospital at 7:50
p.m. Tuesday. A member of the Church of Christ and native of this county,
she was married July 4, 1920 to Tom Fults, who preceded her in death Nov.
25, 1960. She was a daughter of the late Clemons Bud and Fannie Adams
Scott. Survivors include three sons and two daughters, Jesse Fults of
Route 1 Morrison, Gordon Fults of McMinnville, Dan Fults of Lincoln Park,
Mich.; Mrs. Bobby Jane Turner and Mrs. Dorothy Jean Fults, both of
Morrison; a brother and two sisters, Howard Scott and Mrs. Jane Lynn of
McMinnville and Mrs. Ella Daniel of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren. Raymond Sliger and Buford Bonner conducted last
rites in the Chestnut Grove Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Thursday, with
interment in the church cemetery. High's Inc., had charge of the arrangements.
