1. Isn't the following your Joshua in 1870?

1870 Census of Coffee, Wabash, IL

PATTERSON, Joshua 31, Blacksmith, TN

wife Burdance (as spelled by census taker) 25, TN

daughters: Malinda 3, TN and Nancy 1, TN

2. There are 2 Joshua Patterson's on the 1850 Census of Wilson Co TN. But one of them is already married and has several children. Could the following be your Joshua on the 1850 Census? (note - on the 1880 census your Joshua showed his father born NC and mother born TN)

1850 Census of District 17, Wilson Co TN

PATTERSON, David 49, NC and wife MALINDA 44, TN

Sons: JOSHUA 23, William 18, Guston 6, and Matthew 1 month. All born TN

Daughters: Sarah 21, Mary 16, Martha 12, NANCY 9, Emeline 4, and America 3. All born TN.

Wilson Co TN Marriage records show that David Patterson married Malinda ETHERIDGE July 2, 1827 with Shadrack C. Smith as bondsman.
