Your message is a good example of what can be done from home using
Familysearch, Heritage Quest (if your library has it) and then the big
databases available through the English sites like FreeBMD. At least it
gets you started. And all free.

Ancestryplus - the version that libraries offer - will be under new
ownership shortly but I don't think it will change much. Every public
library in my area subscribes to it and hopefully it will still be just as
accessible. It will be owned by the same people who own Heritage Quest.
What that means for home access to HQ, I don't know.
