Hi everyone,

I, also, would like to thank Christy for her post on the APG list. I think
that this list is a great idea and would not have known about it without her
post.

I am in my mid-40's and have been doing research for about 10 years now. I
am a member of the National Genealogical Society and APG. In addition, I
serve on the board of the Minnesota Genealogical Society. Although I have
not done any work for clients, I have done work for friends of mine. This
has allowed me to build up some experience in researching families other
than my own and in areas other than where my family was. I have not charged
any of my friends for this. Instead, I am able to use the opportunity
to try out the waters, so to speak, and see what works and doesn't work. I
have found that researching for others can be a lot different than
researching one's own family.

In the future, I am planning on applying for certification. I currently
work as a trainer for a major company and my interests lie mostly in
teaching. I have taught friends how to do research and love the idea that I
can pass on what I have learned and help others who are interested in
learning how to research their own families. I would love to be able
to combine my passion for genealogy with my love of teaching and do it on a
full time basis.
