Dear Christy,
Hello, What wonderful questions! Yes, I would have to charge much more for
the recent death certificates that the older ones. I charge $5.00 and a
SASE for death certificates 1908-1956 for both Tennessee and Kentucky. For
Tennessee, the cost to me alone to get the recent records would be $17.00
and then I would have to add some kind of additional fee for time, gas would
not be an issue here. So, off the top of my head I would probably charge
somewhere between $25-$30 per death certificate. I don't think people will
pay that as readily as they would the $5.00 unless they really wanted the
record. I could not eat any cost involved with this and it is now clear
that it would not be beneficial. Thanks Christy for helping me to see it
that way.
Sincerely,
Melissa Barker
