I've enjoyed the series. I am really struck by the emotion elicited when the truth of their ancestry is revealed. I know how emotional some of my discoveries have been but I wasn't sure everyone had the same reaction. I have often thought there can be healing thru knowledge of your roots.

I wonder if there's any therapy that uses genealogy to improve self-esteem and understanding. Just my thoughts.

Hi Melissa,

I have also been watching this series although I am not African American nor
have I done any indepth research. The show is very entertaining but I think
misleads the viewer into thinking that the research being done is easy as
pie, cross your arms and "blink" there is your 4th great grandmother.
