The best book that I have is "Your Guide to the Federal Census" by Kathleen
W. Hinckley. Very good book. About what is available for each census
year and state.
National Archives web site also should be a big help.

in the search screen put the word census agriculture, lots of sources

Subject: [TGF] Census Information
Hello List!
I am hoping one or some of you can help me with this. Does anyone know of a
site online and/or a publication that describes in detail what each state
has available as far as the census records go? I am particularly interested
in the more unusual census records such as the agricultural census,
manufacturing and industry schedules, social statistics schedules and local
city and state census which are separate from the U.S. Federal Census
records.
I have the publications:
"Map Guide to the U.S. Federal Censuses, 1790-1920" by Thorndale and
Dollarhide "Red Book: American State, County and Town Resources" by Eichholz
These books do not mention anything other than the standard U.S. Federal
Census records.
What has brought this query on is I have been working on one of my family
lines from West Virginia and I can not find any information on if there are
the "extra" census records available for the different counties.
I would appreciate any advice, direction that anyone would like to share.
Sincerely,Melissa BarkerGenealogist for Tennessee and KentuckyWebsite:
