One good source of information for genealogists about their potential
market/clients is media kits. (Actually, this is a good source of info for
any industry). Publications go out of their way to ensure potential
advertisers that they understand their readership and the advertisers
potential market. At the very least media kits give information on the
number of subscribers and geographic distribution. Many give much more.
With the popularity of the internet, media kits are now easily found online
in pdf format.

The media kit for Family Tree Magazine is an excellent example. It is a 42
page pdf that has sections covering:
- The Genealogy Market
- The Family Tree Magazine Audience
As well as 2009 Editorial Content, editorial calendar, advertising
information and staff contacts
