I have also been enrolledin the same online certificate program as Eileen under the National Institute for Genealogical Studies. I am currently participating in the American Records and will be enrolling in Librarianship at a later date. I was bite by the genealogical bug early in life and I have been researching for over 20 years (almost 24 years). I chose the National Institute as I was well pleased with their courses and the personal scheduling available. I, too, have an interest in applying for membership with the Association of Professional Genealogist (APG). Although, I have not contacted the APG in reference to certification earned as I have not earned a certification yet, there is a section on their application labeled "Professional Learning Certificates" which includes BYU, G&FHC, and PLCGS (National Institute for Genealogical Studies). I, as well, would love to discuss the merits of genealogical study certificates/certifications.
