I remember the time when I was much younger that a society member yelled at
me with such vehemence and slammed her hand on the table. I can't remember
the topic but she was saying something about my youth (in my 30s at the
time). I believe now she was feeling threatened by the very unusual younger
generation. Although you say you are used to being the youngest in places
you go genealogically, it was even more unusual in the BC days (before
computers).
Kelly is right -- if you can find a support system somewhere (such at NGS in
Raleigh) then it will help you realize you are not alone in your experience.
Traditionally we are alone in our profession when we work and in our
interest if no one else in the family is doing it also. That is why
conferences are so important... we can share our experiences and interests
with those who will understand.
See you in Raleigh!
