Hi Nicole: Could you please let us know what county or counties for which you are able to do some pro bono work? I have no idea where Virginia Beach is, research-wise. So more specifics would be welcomed. Thanks, Carolyn

Carolyn,

I apologize for not being more clear in my response, I was really just commenting on a similar experience in my own local area and didn't pay much attention to the fact that I may have left out some pertinent details.

To answer the question of location, Virginia Beach is in the extreme SE of VA on the Chesapeake Bay.  It is about 2 hours or so from Richmond, where the Library of Virginia (without a doubt, the best resource for Virginia research) is located.  It is currently an independent city, one of many in the state of Virginia, but was once part of historic Princess Anne County, which no longer exists.

Hope that helps!
Nicole LaRue
