In Reunion (macintosh software), the user can specify, if they wish, a
specific number be appended to the name in charts.

So, for a pedigree chart as being discussed here (in Reunion it's called
a 'Cascading Pedigree Chart'), I can generate a chart with the
ancestors' ahnentafel numbers. The ahnentafel number appears after the
name (because I said I wanted it). For example, for one of my
3g-grandfathers the text in his chart reads:

William Cook, 114
b. 3 or 8 Feb 1782, Ticonderoga, Essex, New York
d. 27 Dec 1852, Ticonderoga, Essex, New York
bur. Ticonderoga, Essex, NY
m. 14 Mar 1813

One of our daughters is #1 in my family file, since I have both my
husband's and my lines in the same file. So William is her
4g-grandfather, for those keeping track of those ahnentafels!

Numbering the boxes on each page, as well as the cross-page references
("Number 1 on this chart is the same as number 9 on chart 1"), is as
others have described. The source person for each page is assigned 1
(ahnentafel number), the other #s follow, with these numbers appearing
in the upper left corner outside each box. So, 2 sets of ahnentafel
numbers. One generated by the report software for the chart boxes on
each page, the other from my database included in the text within each
box. Hope that's clear.

Cannot include sources, though. That would be nice.
