I just received notification in my university e-mail that I have been
chosen to receive the $500 grant I applied for. My professor/mentor is
happy, too, I'm sure, because he gets $1000 out of the deal! (I think
that's backwards, but that's just me (smile)).

I have already received the department chair's approval for my directed
individual study on the family structure of St. Augustine usuing
genealogical methods and sources, which will form the basis for the
investigation proposed in my grant proposal -- into how that family
structure and those kinship ties influenced and were influenced by the
events of St. Augustine during the second Spanish period (1783-1820).

That's a nice Christmas present indeed!
