>Discussion: Section 1.1: Analysis and Mindset
The rest of this chapter goes into deeper detail on the points brought up in
this particular section. However, to start the discussion, what are your
personal insights to the mindset you bring to your research? Does your
mindset change when doing personal research vs. client research? How does
your mindset effect your analysis? What do you think is important for doing
analysis?

I find I need structure to do analysis. I tend to break the project or
problem into separate and specific questions. I then formulate a research
plan for each question. I find that gives me focus and allows me to analyze
the data with a specific goal in mind. That being the case, I may reuse the
data under different plans. I track results in the plan and may roll over
those results to update the next plan I select to work on.

This is not really duplication of effort because I view the data from
different perspectives depending upon the question being answered. I work
this way for personal and client research. I've tried other approaches but
I have found that I end up redoing my work using my structured approach.
This focused approach helps me maintain the mindset I need for effective
research.
