Subject: [TGF] Is it possible to remove marking on a tombstone
Date: Mon, 1 Nov 2010 12:16:07 -0500
Got a quick question about tombstones. Here in Daviess County, KY it appears that some young
people unfortunately decided to damage a local family cemetery. The cemetery is not name in
the article on-line, but the damage is. Among the damage to the tombstone was "scratched
profanities."
A link to the article is here -- http://www.14wfie.com/Global/story.asp?S=13416938
My question is: Can you remove marking off a tombstone?
I am aware of what you can use and what not to use when cleaning tombstones, I wondered if
there was anything that could be done. I am aware that it would depend on the condition of the
tombstone, the location of the scratched profanities, and other factors prior to determining on IF
anything could be removed.
I know the answer is likely no. The reason I am asking, I just do not want someone trying a
do-it-yourself removal project on any of these tombstones if I can help it. The cemetery was
damaged once on purpose, I just don't want to see it damaged twice by accident when the second
time can be avoided.
Thank you,
Amy
