That first word probably is overheat, but I'd guess the second word isn't
"no" -- those might just be the first two letters of the second word, which
I can't make out either. There is clearly a letter with a tail, such as g j
or y, and an i in there. Catraracts can be caused by excessive exposure to
ultraviolet light or radiation -- perhaps in 1880 this could be interpreted
as "overheating". It seems it the "overheating" of the lens that forms
cataracts, so I'm pretty confident "overheat" is the right word. The
question is what is the second?
To know for sure, you'd probably have to review the microfilm copy at the
National Archives or the Family Search Library.
You could, alternatively, search through other pages of this schedule to see
if anyone else with cataracts has a similar cause that you can read.
