I have enjoyed reading line by line, page by page the 1940 census.  I wasn't around then or in the 1950 census either.  But I remember some of these people as neighbors when I was a child.  And seeing my mother as a 17 year old and she being the last one home with her parents is exciting to me.  How I wish she were still here so I could tell her I found her.

This census makes the memories even fonder. [sigh]

My mother doesn't get too involved in my genealogical pursuits and findings.
I often get a "thats nice, dear" comment. But, when I asked her where she
was living in 1940, then called back to report I'd found her, she got
excited. She was in nursing school living in a dorm. As we read down the
names she told stories on many of the girls. Fun.
