Searchable is a mixed blessing. I can't describe the feeling I get browsing
this census--makes me want to cry. My parents were married 5 days after
census day (72 years ago today) and I didn't appear until 4 years later.
But this time I recognize people; it is like being back in 1940's and 50's
small town Illinois. This time it's not just names I've heard. This time
I'm not finding ancestors I knew nothing about. This time it is truly
"reach out and touch someone." Oh, my!
