Folks,

I'm new to this mailing list. Also, strangely enough, I don't have any Travis ancestors.

However, my best friend of the last 40 years is Gerry Travis. He and I were talking the other night and I was showing him Census and other data (from Rootsweb) I could find on-line about his Travis ancestors.

He doesn't have the time to do the research himself, but he did mention that he'd love to have that sort of family information that he could show to his father, who's well into his 80's.

I was able to trace his immediate family line back to his Great Great Grandfather, Nicholas Stallworth Travis, born in South Carolina in 1810 and died (was assassinated?) in Escambia County, Alabama in 1862. There seems to be a great deal of information about the Travis/Travers line going back from Nicholas. (There have apparently been several avid genealogists who have traced this line over the years. Wish someone had done that for my family.)

I'd like to assembly a Travis family tree for Gerry and his father. If anyone has this data in gedcom format and would be willing to share it, I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks,
Jim Nix
