I am not looking at any maps right as I type this, so if anything is not
correct, please accept my apologies.
Borussia is the Latin name for Prussia - which is east of modern day
Germany - it is where modern day Latvia Estonia and Lithuania are. It was
often used incorrectly when describing Prussian occupied Rheinland, the
geographical area served by this list and a part of southwestern modern day
Germany, where the population is subtantially entirely Catholic.
I would believe Thielen to be a variation of Thiel, and this may or may not
have anything to do with it, but there is also the name Thelen which you may
want consider in your search as well. It is a city as well as a family name
and i believe is located in either the northern Rheinland or southern
Westphalia.
I'm probably not helping you out any, but the proverbial fuel for thought.
Best wishes.
