Hi List and cousins,
While you were sleeping I slipped away from the List and did some searches on Yahoo. I found some relatives descended from the BJØRNGÅRD farm. Florance M BITTER has not used the farm names which makes it difficult to track the different branches of the tree. One name she has used is OSTKIL, which is how I found her. If we are going to make a 'Mother of all tree', we will have to use the farm name on the understanding that it isn't the surname, eg my great grandfather was Peder Lassesen of FULDSET. When the farm name becomes the surname we should make a note of it, eg Peder's children's surname became FULDSETH. In my tree I have the farm as place of birth which is most likely to be incorrect. Peder Lassesen FULDSET was more likely born in Hegra. On his death certificate, his place of birth was Trondhjemi which I read somewhere, was saying he was a 'Tronder'
What I would like to see is a history of each farm, who owned it, who it was sold to and for how much. I could also add the size and who lived on the farm, crops and livestock. I can do the Fuldset Farm, 1685-1908, but the Bjørngård Farm has gaps and I don't know who the owners were when looking at the different members of families through the ages.
