Jodi,
The MOAT sounds like a neat idea - that those who are related can have a
file they can review and see how they are related to each other. But I
have a few questions about your project ........
What happens to this new Gedcom when it's all created?
Is it being sent only to those who contributed?
Will those who contributed be given credit in some way for the research
they have done?
Is it being posted to a web site like FamilyTreeMaker or the LDS site where
those companies/organizations can then claim the information and sell it to
others?
I'm not sure all the contributors and potential contributors know what will
become of their data but they should be informed.
I am happy to share my data with others, but I personally have not
contributed my data to anyone or any organization where I knew that it
would be repackaged and sold to others without my permission.
