Your great grandmother Mette Eriksdatter Skogrand born 25 Sep 1855 emigrated from Trondheim on 25 Jun 1874 together with her brother Gabriel(25), his wife Sara(25) and their daughter Mette who was 3 months old. They lived then in Hevne parish in Sør-Trøndelag. Mette Eriksdatter and Gabriel Eriksen's parents were Erik Johnsen Follo/Viggen/Hasselflata born 1805 or 1806 , died 1870 and his wife Mette Pedersdatter Ofstad born 1810. They married in 1832 (Geitastrandboka page 274) and took over half of his parents farm in Børsa in 1833. They sold the farm to Mette's half-sister in 1848 and moved out.Children: Ermegård born 1833, Peder(Per) born 1834, John born 1837, Ingeborg born 1840, John born 1844, Johan Arnt born 1847 (Børsaboka volume 2 page 222). In 1865 they lived at Hasselflata in Hasselvik(Stadsbygd parish)

The parents of Erik Johnsen, born 1805/6, were John Olsen Follo born abt 1766, died 1832, (corporal) and his wife Ermegård Arntsdatter Olstad born 1772, they married in 1793 (Børsaboka volume 2 page 214),. They had 9 children and two of them (Hans and Engel) settled in Hasselvika (Stadsbygd parish) on the north side of the Trondheimsfjord. Erik Johnsen was also living in Nergården in Fevåg.

The parents of John Olsen born abt 1766 were Ole(Ola) Engelsen Follo born at Hamran in Rennebu in 1721, died 1799, and his wife Gjertrud Evensdatter Gorset born abt 1725, died 1809. They owned the Follo farm in Orkdal parish from 1755 till they came to Viggja in Børsa parish in 1782. They married in Rennebu in 1749 and had 6 children, Erik was the youngest. His 3 oldest siblings were born at Hamran in Rennebu, the others at Follo.

The parents of Ermegård Arntsdatter born 1772 were Arnt Ingebrigtsen Øyen born at Øver-Øyen in Surnadal in Møre og Romsdal fylke about 1741, died 1786, and his wife Berit Jensdatter Svaboe, born abt 1746, died 1825.. They lived at Lefstad in Skaun when they married, but just after they moved to Olstad. Berit married as a widow Erik Olsen Follo, one brother of John Olsen Follo. Later they got divorced, and he married the much younger servant girl who was the cause of the divorce.

The parents of Berit Jensdatter Svaboe were Jens Christoffer Davidsen Svaboe born at Eklo in Verdal in 1697 and Berit Ellingsdatter Jordhusbakken born 1714. They never married. Berit Ellingsdatter died during the birth of Berit Jensdatter, and Jens Christoffer Svaboe, took hs daughter into his home at Olstad. She inherited her father.

The parents of Jens Christoffer were David Thomassen born at Innset Copper-mines in 1658, died 1731 and his wife Mette Jensdatter Svaboe born in Trondheim 1667, died 1749. She was a daughter of the priest Jens Svaboe, and a first cousin of her husband. His father Thomas Davidsen was a shopkeeper at Innset, died 1661, and the mother was a shopkeepers daughter from Trondheim: Ellen Eriksdatter Blix. (Børsaboka volume 1 page 11)

The priest Jens Christopherson or Christensen Svaboe probably became a student in Copenhagen in 1657 under the name of Janus Christofori Nidarosiensis(The names were latinized).You find more about him and their forefathers at http://www.nose.dk/Norge/sigvard_amundsen.html
There his wife is given as Sophia Eriksdatter Blix born 18 Mar 1626 at Hammerdal, died 26 May 1709 in Åfjord parish.

The parents of Berit Ellingsdatter were Elling Jordhusbakken and his wife Marit Nilsdatter Jordhusbakken born 1688 to Nils Jordhusbakken, a miner born 1661 and his wife Berit born 1666.

Then back to Mette Pedersdatter Ofstad born 1810. Her parents were Peder(Per) Mikkelsen Husdal/Ofstad born 1779, died 1859 and his first wife Ingeborg Engelsdatter Meslo/Ofstad, born 1774 in Rennebu, died 1821. Ingeborg was daughter of Engel Ellevsen Meslo and his wife Mette Ingebrigtsdatter Lien in Rennebu(Geitastrandboka page 274)

The parents of Peder Mikkelsen Husdal were Mikkel Eriksen Husdal, born 1743, twin brother of my wifes 4th great-grandmother Mildri (Mille) Mikkelsdatter Husdal. You find her as # 221 at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/4105/anetavle.htm

Their parents were Erik Mikkelsen Rove born 1700, died 1765 and his wife Berit Pedersdatter Dyndal born 1701, died 1775.

The parents of Berit were Peder Velliksen and his wife Marit Sjurdsdatter Dyndal.

The parents of Erik were Mikkel Eriksen Rove born abt 1660, died 1742 and his wife Mildri (Mille) Olsdatter born abt 1661, died 1739. They came to Rove from Gjølmesøra, where Mikkel had been operating the saw mill.

Well this is something to start with. We could continue to talk and discuss this if you come to visit us at our farm in Lensvik when you come to Norway in July. I could drive you to see the different sites in Orkdal and Geitastranda(today a part of Orkdal). I suppose you are staying at Tråssåvika Camping in Orkdal. That is only some 20 miles from our farm. We could go across the fjord with the ferry from Valset to Brekstad and drive to se Hasselflata in Hasselvika. We could also drive the other way back to Geitastranda, Orkdal, and even take a trip to Hemne(Skogrand).
