Hi Graham
Just saw you had only the birth of Anton Elesæus Bratsberg
You may not know that he left Norway in 1906 on the vessel Tasso from
Trondheim. Heading for Minneapolis. Unmarried at that time.
It seems like he has got some education at this time.
Ingeniør means Engineer.

And in the census of 1900 he lives with his family at Beistaden.
Anton Andriassen Kvarving

Hei
Thank you to Margit, Anne Hildrum, Ellis Lane, Arnt Minsaas, Bruce Wiland
and Linda Schwartz who have enabled us to discover much more about this
side of our family.
We give below a compilation of the data we have to hand.
From this you will see that we have a mystery and I am not sure how to
proceed. Perhaps there are some school records in Norway which will show
whether there were two Anton Bratbergs. If there were, then why does Anton
E appear to have dropped off the map? Was there a USA census in 1910?
We would be grateful for any help that anyone can give.
We shall be in Houston, at the Intercontinental 2222 West Loop South, from
9th -13th March and were hoping that we might be able to make a family
connection.
Ellis..it would appear that Inger is your third cousin, once removed.
With best wishes.
Inger and Graham

Notes:
1 We have information on the children but have only shown those in
direct line of descent.
2 Peter Torbergsen came to Sparbu in 1866 and took over the tenancy
of Bratbergåsen under Bratberg østre. The family subsequently adopted the
BRATBERG name.
3 The 1920 Census shows an Anton E BRATBERG but the information on
his wife and children fit those of Anton K BRATBERG!!
4 The original confusion arose because we were looking for one Anton
BRATBERG, the son of Andreas BRATBERG and Sarah VESTVIK and kept finding
data concerning a son of Karl Johan and Elvine BRATBERG. It now appears
that there were two Anton BRATBERGs, who were uncle and nephew, both having
the same year of birth, both born in or near Sparbu, both having Swedish
wives and both having emigrated to America. They have now been separated,
as shown above, and the data starts to make sense.
5 However, we now have a new mystery.
Why is there no information about Anton Elisæus BRATBERG other than his
name and year of birth?
Was there actually two people, or just one?
Did the Bygdebok authors, or later researchers make a mistake?
Did one of the Antons die at birth?
