I too am in a state of re-education. My mother's family parents were
both 1/2 Cherokee from OK. However, my mother's birth certificate
says "white". This is due to my grandparents attempt to escape from
discrimination. The history we learned as children was and is created
from retrospect. Whoever wins can write what they want. The losers
have no say. Only as a young adult did I learn of my ancestry. As I
age and mature, I also become more and more aware of my heritage. Tsi
