Cousins,
In the 1813 and 1814 Philadelphia City Directory is a John Tuckniss listed as a Book Binder.? In 1814 his business was listed at 3 North Fifth in Philadelphia.
Based on the following emails I believe that this is John Tuckniss/Tuckness who was born ca 1741, died 28 Jun 1818, married Elizabeth White on 22 Jun 1769, was a Quaker, and the brother of Robert (the Hatter) Tuckness b. ca 1740.
What do you think?? If you have any additional information, please let us know.? Thanks.
Best regards,
Jerry

Just a note to let you know that I went to the library and searched the indexed obits for the years 1791 thru 1879 which includes the newspapers: Poulsons Daily Advertiser, Philadelphia Public Ledger and the Philadelphia Inquirer. In all those years I found only a single mention of the name Tuckness. That mention was of a John Tuckness age 78 years old who died on June 28, 1818 and whose very brief obit appeared in Poulsons Daily Advertiser on 3 July 1818.
John Tuckness also listed:? Post Rev War Muster Rolls from Philadelphia:?? 2nd Co., 2nd Batt, 1787???
Read, James, Lt. Col.????
Duffey, Patrick, Captain?

In the 1769 Philadelphia Tax List, you will notice that there was no Henry Tuckness listed and you will notice that Robert (a hatter by profession) and a John Tuckness were apparently living side by side as that was how the count was taken, door to door.
