Subject: [TUCKNESS] Locating "Old Henry" Tuckness

Cousins,

In the Maury Co, Tennessee Road Minutes dated 15 July 1822 we find the
following reference to "Old Henry" Tuckness:

"Ordered that John Kennedy be appointed overseer of the road from the margin
of the town of Columbia to the forks of the road leading to Pulaski and
Pillow's mill, and that James R. Shelton and his hands, Thomas Adkinson and
his hands, Henry Tuckness and his hands, Thomas White and his hands, George
M. Martin and his hands, work under his direction."

This should give us an idea as to where Henry and his family lived. The
road leading to Pulaski is surely what is today Highway 31 which runs south
from Columbia, Maury Co, TN to Pulaski. Near Columbia it is labeled
"Pulaski Highway" and near Pulaski it is labeled "Columbia Highway". I have
not yet been able to locate Pillow's Mill, but I did find Pillow Drive just
to the west of Highway 31 and is just south of Highway 50 (James M. Campbell
Blvd) which connects with Highway 31 south of Columbia.

Jerry
